Complain Letter

Dear ____________________:

Non-operational product, not seeking refund

On ________________ I purchased ________________. After using it several times, I have
noticed a ____________________________problem with it that you should know about.

At no point since I purchased ________________ have I been satisfied with it. Despite the short
time it has been in my possession, it has caused me nothing but trouble, certainly more trouble
than it is worth. I am hoping that this is not true of all your products and that perhaps the model I
bought was somehow defective.

I don’t know if you have received this information from other customers, but I think this matter
is worth looking into. Please contact me regarding my ________________, and I will be happy
to give you any further information.

Thank you.

Before I take any drastic action, I felt you should know what’s going on. If you have any

Thank you.

Second Complaint Letter

Dear ____________________:

________________ I wrote you a letter expressing my dissatisfaction over ________________.
When I sent that letter I requested some kind of explanation about how you would remedy the
situation. Since that time I have received no reply of any kind, so I am contacting you again.

I wish to remain a customer of yours, but I am currently very unhappy with

Final Complaint Letter

Dear ____________________:

________________ I wrote you a letter requesting a reply to my first letter. In both letters, I
believe I made it very clear that I am very unhappy with ________________. To date, I have
received no reply of any kind from ________________.

Your complete indifference to my dissatisfaction makes it easy for me to simply never do
business with you again. However, that does not free ________________ of its obligation to
improve its service. I would like to receive ________________ by ________________. If I do
not receive such information, I will be taking my case and my story to ________________.

While it is apparent that my first two letters were not important to your company, I truly hope
that this one will be. I truly hope ________________ does not treat all of its customers this way
or I can guarantee I will not be the only one taking such action.

Thank you.

Complaint Letter Demanding Refund

Dear ____________________:

On ________________ I purchased ________________ from ________________. I made the

Credit Contest Letter – First Letter to Business Claiming You Owe
Money
Date: ________________

Name: ________________
Address: ________________

Collector’s Name: ________________
Collector's Address: ________________

Account #: ________________

Dear ________________:

I am writing in response to your ________________ on ________________. I am writing to
dispute the debt because I do not believe I owe what you claim.

I have sent you this letter within 30 days and am fully aware of my rights under the Fair Debt
Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Under the FDCPA, I know these
three things to be true:

   1. You must obtain verification of the debt or a copy of the judgment against me and mail
these items to me at your expense because I have disputed this debt in writing within 30
days of receipt of your dunning notice
   2. You cannot add interest or fees except those allowed by the original contract or state law.
   3. You do not have to respond to this dispute but if you do, any attempt to collect this debt
without validating it, violates the FDCPA

This is the first I have heard from yours or any other company on this matter. Therefore, in
accordance with the FDCPA, Section 809(b): Validating Debts:

(b) If the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period described in
subsection (a) that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, or that the consumer requests the
name and address of the original creditor, the debt collector shall cease collection of the debt, or
any disputed portion thereof, until the debt collector obtains verification of the debt or any copy
of a judgment, or the name and address of the original creditor, and a copy of such verification or
judgment, or name and address of the original creditor, is mailed to the consumer by the debt
collector.

I respectfully request that you provide me with the following information:

   1.   The amount of the debt;
   2.   The name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed;
   3.   Provide a verification or copy of any judgment (if applicable);

© Copyright 2011 Docstoc Inc. 20
   4. Proof that you are licensed to collect debts in (insert name of your state)

Also be advised that I am keeping records of all correspondence from you and your company and
I will not hesitate to report violations of the law to my state’s Attorney General, the Federal
Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau.

I have disputed this debt; therefore, until validated you know your information concerning this
debt is inaccurate. Thus, if you have already reported this debt to any credit-reporting agency or
Credit Bureau, you must immediately inform them of my dispute with this debt. Reporting
information that you know to be inaccurate or failing to report information correctly violates the
Fair Credit Reporting Act § 1681s-2.

Thank you.
