									AP Physics
Instructor: Mr. Niedziela
Classroom???
We are still figuring out room
  assignments.
We will probably be in several different
  rooms.
At least once a cycle, probably more we
will be in the computer lab, 2C
About Physics
  What is Physics?
How much time should I study?
How much homework will I Have?
Topics in Physics
  Motion Electricity
  Forces Magnetism
  Work and Energy Optics
  Waves Nuclear Physics
  Temperature and Others….
  Heat transfer
Assigned Seats
   You will have assigned seats.
Please sit in your assigned seats each
  day for class.
Your seating may change on lab days.
Your lab partner will change each
  week.

A Typical Class
                  Collect/Check
                  Homework
                  Review
                  Lecture with notes
                  Demonstration
                  In class assignment
                  Work on Project
                  Homework
Projects
   One or two per quarter
Approximately 2 ½ weeks to complete
   Project must meet the requirements
A detailed typed report or verbal
  presentation using PowerPoint is required
  with the project
Do not wait till the last few days
Tests
   Two tests a quarter
Tests will be full period comprehensive
  tests
Cheating or attempting to cheat will
result in a Zero grade, a Referral, and
  calling your parents
Quizzes
   Approximately 1 a week.
Quizzes typically reflect the topics from
  the last few lectures.
Cheating will result in a zero grade as
  well as detention.
We will try to have our Quizzes on D-
  day.
Homework
Given at the end every class.
Collected or checked for a grade.
  Missing homework is a zero.
In Class Assignments
Most classes will have an assignment
where you get to practice the concepts
  introduced in the lecture
I walk around and see who is doing the
  assignments are who is not
   Class behavior and participation are
  rolled into this grade
Notebooks
  I will check notebooks often
 Notebooks should contain all class
 notes, handouts, and project
 reports in chronological order
 Notebooks should also be neat,
 organized, and bound
 A three-ring notebook is suggested
Physics Laboratory
Although students will work in groups
on laboratory projects and share data,
  all conclusions will be independent.
Identical lab reports will result in a
  Zero grade.
Overly similar lab reports will result in a
  lowered grade.
Discipline Policy
Talking in class or other disruptive behavior
  is a detention with me.
Missing a detention and you have two.
When you get your 2nd detention I call your
  house.
3rd detention you have a referral.
Being out of dress code is school detention.
Cheating is school detention and a zero.
Fire Drills
   Students closest to the windows,
  please shut the windows.
Last one out shut off the lights.
   Stay together as a class.
Find me if you are not with your
  classmates.
I will take attendance when outside.
Vectors
  What is a vector?
  How do we represent vectors?
  What is a scalar?
