Rental Deposit Program SHIP Program Restrictions ► No mobile homes may be assisted. ► No ongoing rental assistance allowed ► Security and Utility Deposits Eligible Expenses ► Monthly rents must be affordable by SHIP standards ► Funding level subject to program requirements ► Tenants must meet income eligibility requirements: ► Income certification training required New Rental Deposit Program Program Issues ● Form of assistance: Grant or Loan ● Location of eligible units - County-wide or - Restrict to outside City of Gainesville ● ● ● Coordination with other service providers Sub-recipient or county partner needed to administer program Inspections to ensure rental unit meets minimum housing code New Rental Deposit Program Recommendations: Direct staff to prepare a Pilot Rental Deposit Program ► Assistance in form of a grant ► Income Eligibility: up to 50% AMI ► Program budget: $50,000 for SFY 2009 ► One time assistance only ► Rental units must meet minimum housing code ► Restrict apartment location to outside of City of Gainesville unless no other deposit program is currently available. ► Partner with Community Support Services Department.
