HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION – SECTION 3 (CONTINUED) POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS CHG is irritating to the eye and should not be used as a preoperative skin preparation of the periorbital or eyelid areas. Misuse of CHG has been reported to cause serious and permanent eye injury when it has been permitted to enter and remain in the eye during surgical procedures. CHG has been reported to cause deafness when instilled in the middle ear through perforated eardrums. Possible irritation, defatting, and drying of skin in sensitive individuals. The vapor has anaesthetic properties, and when inhaled at concentrations above the occupational exposure limit, may cause headache, fatigue, dizziness, loss of coordination, and unconsciousness. No information available. Avoid contact with meninges. If any adverse reaction should occur, discontinue use immediately.

FIRST AID MEASURES – SECTION 4 Seek medical attention in all cases of overexposure. FIRST AID MEASURES Flush thoroughly with copious amounts of water for 15 minutes. Flush ear with water; repeat several times. Flush thoroughly with copious amounts of water. Wash out mouth with water. Treat with gastric lavage using milk, egg white, or mild soap.
