to work with external clients within our IT consulting group.

Description: The Consulting Network Engineer’s role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient
operation of our client’s technology systems that support core operational functions. This is achieved by
monitoring, installing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked hardware, software and associated
operating systems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user training where required. The Network
Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify,
communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT system investments.

   • Design and deploy applications, software, and operating systems (including new installations,
      enhancements and upgrades).
   • Perform software maintenance, which will include updates, patches, and fixes to server and workstation
   • Software and hardware procurement and licensing
          o Maintain license counts and inventory for all clients
   • Conduct research on software and systems products to justify recommendations and to support
      purchasing efforts.
   • Provide technical support (software, hardware, and network)
   • Provide end-user support
   • Provide guidance and support to junior members of the team
   • Update/rebuild/configure/reallocate workstations, laptops, and desktops
   • Setup/update/configure servers, switches, routers, wireless access points
   • Setup/troubleshoot/configure Microsoft Windows Server 2000/2003/2008 and Microsoft Exchange
   • Monitor server health utilizing event logs and other troubleshooting tools
   • Perform general printer and other peripherals maintenance
   • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of
      developments in the networking industry.
   • Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
   • Update/maintain/monitor antivirus applications for servers and client systems
   • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related
      documentation and technical specifications information.
   • Integrate servers, including database, e-mail, print and backup servers and their associated software into
      enterprise systems.

   •   Ensure system connectivity of all servers, shared software, groupware, and other applications.
   •   Design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes
       in accordance with the client’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies
   •   Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing workstations.
   •   Collaborate with EKS&H consulting team members and clients to ensure smooth and reliable operation
       of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
   •   Create and maintain design models, specifications, diagrams, charts and documentation as it relates to
       system configuration, software, licensing, mapping, processes, and service records on clients.
   •   Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.
   •   Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure system-related products and
   •   Provide orientation and training to end-users for all modified and new systems.

Position Requirements:

   • College diploma or university degree in the field of Computer Science or Computer Information
       Systems and 5 to 6 years equivalent work experience (preferred).
   • Excellent technical knowledge of corporate, networking, and other hardware, including Microsoft NT
       Active Directory.
   • MCSE, MCITP or CCNA certification preferred but not required
   • Technical knowledge of corporate, networking, and other hardware, including Microsoft Active
   • Comprehensive hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
   • Working technical knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems, software, and standards.
   • Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories.
   • Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation.
   • Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network
       management best practices.
   • Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.
   • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Work Conditions
  • Local travel required. Approximately 90% within the Denver metro area and 10% outside the Denver
     metro area.
  • Lifting and transporting of heavy to moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
  • After hours and weekend on-call support required.
