Making Most of a Garage Sale
Here are a few practical tips: 1. Start with a plan. Pick a date on a weekend around 1st or 15th of the month wherein people have got their pay Cheques. 2. Start your sale in the early morning, as that's when the most serious buyers will show up. 3. Go through your house and collect everything which you haven't used or worn in two years because definitely that is not required. 4. Treat your sale like a business. Organize the merchandise, putting like items with like items, so buyers can find what they're looking for. 5. Advertise - Run ads in local papers and on the Internet (there are lots of free yardand-garage-sale sites - Try www.GarageSaleCow.com) and put up flyers. 6. Also spread the word among friends and family. The more you have to sell, the larger the crowd you can draw for your sale. 7. Set up your cash table near the entrance. Have plenty of small change, a cash box, a calculator, pencil and pen, newspaper to wrap valuables etc. 8. Make sure there's plenty of parking; relocate your car if necessary. And last but not least be cheerful, get people talking and encourage haggling during this sale.
