Duties and Responsibilities
Manage and direct the activities of the Research and Evaluation Section and exercise
1 relevant delegations.
Undertake major and/or complex projects and reviews relevant to the work of the

section.
Develop, implement and review Research and Evaluation programs, coordinate and
3 formulate the company’s Corporate Plan and related activities and oversee the
operations of the Marketing Unit.
4 Provide high level advice in terms of activities within the scope of the section, and
represent the company as required.
5 Negotiate/liaise with other areas of the company and other departments and outside
organisations.
6 Prepare detailed reports and submissions to Senior Management, the Executive and
Board of Directors.
7 Identify and facilitate staff training and development needs.

Whilst this duty statement summarises the purpose of the job and lists its key tasks, it is not a definite list of all the
tasks to be undertaken. Those tasks can be varied from time to time at the discrection of the General Manager, in
consultation with the employee. To deliver services effectively, a degree of flexibility is needed and the employee may
be required to perform work not specifically referred to above.
Selection Criteria
To have gained from personal experience an understanding of issues affecting
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Australia including: their culture,

and; the diversity of their circumstances, together with an ability to communicate
effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Highly developed written and oral communications skills, together with

demonstrated ability to undertake high level negotiations.
3 Well developed analytical and interpretative skills.
Ability to work as an individual and a team leader; undertake and/or manage
4
complex projects.
Proven abilities and extensive experience in the areas of:
• planning and organising work, dealing with conflicting demands and
working to deadlines;

• evaluation;
• development and management of databases; and
• development of operational policies and standards.

4. Satisfactorily complete a medical assessment
