									Morning Announcements for Wednesday, September 23, 2009

    1.    Seniors: Don’t forget to mail your group picture order envelope by Wednesday, September 23rd.
    2.    Attention All Students & Staff: Wednesday, September 23rd will be early release for a faculty meeting. Students will be released at
          2:30 PM. 5th period ends at 12:55 PM; 6th period ends at 1:42 PM; and 7th period ends at 2:30 PM. The buses will be running at their
          normal bus times. Staff, this will be a general meeting.
    3.    Seniors: Any interested in riding the homecoming float to represent the Class of 2010 please see Mary Stanford, Alexis Smoot, Chloe
          Sanders or Kiera Ford.
    4.    Young Men Interested in Joining ACTAG: If you are interested in joining ACTAG, please see Ms. Woods in the Attendance Office.
    5.    Junior or Seniors: Interested in meeting with a college rep from Johnson & Wales on Friday, September 25? If so, sign up in the
          Guidance Office by 3 PM on Thursday, 9/24.
    6.    Seniors: Any Senior interested in being considered for Elk’s Teen of the Month recognition is asked to see Mr. Seiler in Room 128
          for sign up information. Two seniors will be picked for the months of October through April. Completed forms are due by Thursday,
          October 1st.
    7.    Class of 2011: Junior class meeting Thursday September 24th after school in Room 160.
    8.    Attention staff and students: Last night the boys and girls cross country teams competed at Mills Creek Golf Course in the Erie
          County Championships. The teams competed against area schools which included St Mary’s, Margaretta, Edison, Vermilion, Perkins,
          and Huron. On the girls’ side the Blue Streaks finished 4 th out of 7 teams with Freshman Shelby Ohlemacher leading the way for the
          Streaks. Other contributors were Junior Rebecca Lewis, and Sophomores Amber Ginty, Kelly Hixson, and Emily Krause. On the
          boys’ side the Streaks can home with Erie County Championship trophy. The Streaks edged out St. Mary’s for the title with Freshman
          Xavier Seavers leading the way with a third place finish. The rest of the top 7 finishers for SHS were Senior Scott Ramon, juniors
          Alvin Kirksey, Nick Bankieris, Talon Flohr, Justin Palma, and Thomas Handy. Congrats Streaks and great job! Thanks to all who
          came out and supported both teams!
    9.    Students needing Volunteer Hours: Erie Metro Parks has openings for the next two weekends to assist. This will work for volunteer
          hours or to replace Saturday School hours this week or next. This week Firelands College Visitor Center. Assist in pond clean up.
          Wear old clothes. Next week Harvest Happenings at Osborne Park. See Mr. Matheny by Thursday to sign up.
    10.   Students: Fifth Third Bank will be holding a college preview night on Tuesday, Sept 29 th from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at Fifth Third Field in
          Toledo. There will be 14 schools from throughout Ohio and Michigan and you will have a chance to win a $1000 scholarship to
          BGSU or $1500 scholarship to Lourdes College. This night is free and open to high school students and parents. Pick up a flyer in the
          main office if you are interested.
    11.   Freshman Class: Congratulations to the following freshmen who have been elected to the SHS student council: Harley Beese, Caleb
          Hitchcock, Jenna Meggitt, Kylie Neer, Jacob Riedy and Taylor Vargo. The six of you should attend your first Student Council
          meeting today during 2nd period in Room 301.
    12.   All Students in 10th Grade Homerooms: All students in 10th grade homerooms will participate in the career/college “plan” test
          Thursday at 21:15 PM. You may use a calculator if you bring one to the test room.
    13.   Everyone: Congratulations to the Girl’s tennis team who swept Midview 5-0. This makes their season record 8-8. Great job girls!
    14.   Senior: Any senior who has not yet been photographed by Woodard will receive a form in the next few days through homeroom.
          Woodard will be here at our school on Tuesday, October 6th. Once you receive your form, please return it promptly to schedule an
          appointment. Only photo taken by Woodard will be included in the yearbook.
    15.   NHS Members: Volunteers are needed for this Sunday’s “Supermarket Scramble” that benefits the KidsFest Safety Celebration 2010.
          You can earn three hours of volunteer service! PLEASE sign up in Mrs. Poggiali’s room.
    16.   Students & Staff: SHS Homecoming will be Friday, October 2nd with the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, October 3 rd. To run for
          the homecoming court you must personally sign up in the Library. Sign-up time will be September 22 – 25th. Also, you must attend a
          mandatory meeting on Friday, September 25 th at 3:00 PM in Room #155 for about 5 minutes. If you do not attend this meeting or
          contact Mrs. Prout prior to the meeting, your name will not appear on the ballot.
    17.   Attention Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors: The underclass picture day is scheduled for Wednesday, September 30 th. Order forms
          are available in Room 113 and in the Main Office.
    18.   Fall Sports Seniors: Senior athletes involved in Fall Sports are reminded that Senior Night forms are due in the Athletic Office today.
          If you do not have a form, please pick one up in the Athletic Office.
    19.   Everyone: Last night the volleyball program swept Marion Harding! JV and Freshman Teams won in two and the Varsity won in 4.
          Cara Croom contributed 16 kills and 12 digs, Jakira Spearman six kills, and 10 digs. Quinneesha Redding seven kills, 14 digs and 15
          service points. Great job volleyball players!
    20.   Attention All Students and Staff: Today in Athletics, we have the following events scheduled: Good Luck Streaks.
