Awrite, stap haverin’ and get aff yer bahookies for the Arches new takeover makeover A Hingmy in the Café.
This new installation and performance series by theatre maker Martin O’ Connor comes over aw West Coast
and features performances throughout April and May with the next performance, Martin Does Conversation,
taking place on Thursday 21st April.

The third of our performance and installation makeovers, Martin will take the words and sounds of the people
and patter of Glasgow for each of the four performances. Not only that, there’s also a delicious, weegie
inspired three course menu. Enjoy a whisky shot with Irn Bru to whet your palette followed by some hearty
and thick tattie soup just like your Granny made, play pat-a-cake with a main of mince and doughballs and for
dessert fill yer boots with a big double nougat (just like wan you’d get from the van). There’s also veggie
options for the less carnivorous diners out there.

A writer and theatre-maker from Glasgow, Martin O’Connor makes text-based and spoken word
performances around ideas of Scottish male identity and language. He has created performances in various
theatre venues as well as site specific poetry and monologues in found spaces around Glasgow including the
subway. Martin is currently developing two performance pieces, Glory Be and A Govan of the Mind, supported
by the Arches.

There will be further performances of a Hingmy in the Café on the following dates from 5.30pm. Get ready to
split yer sides on Friday 6th May as Martin Does Francie and Josie and on Wednesday 25th May take on the
hustle and bustle as Martin Does Govan Market.

About the Arches restaurant’s Takeover Makeover:

Artists inhabit the restaurant for a month, add to the menu, rewrite the specials, let you try their
favourite cocktails and leave their stuff scattered across the tables for you to nosy through. The special
accompanying menu for the takeover makeover costs only £8.95 for three courses.

The takeover makeover kicked off in November 2010 with Adrienne’s Bar and Grill featuring Adrian
Howells' alter ego Adrienne (An Audience with Adrienne, Salon Adrienne). Adrienne gathered together
the cosy assortment of chintz cluttering her flat - plastic fruit, tartan flasks and a lot of cut glass
ashtrays - and set up camp, popping in from time to time to serve her special retro three course menu

the blancmange, went down a storm. Experimental Glasgow based duo Fish & Game followed suit in
January and February cooking up a highland fling with their Scotch Corner takeover which featured an
