                                      Media Makeover/Takeover

        Ocala, FL. (Feb. 11, 2011) --- The Ocala Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association will host

Media Makeover/Takeover, a professional development and networking event on Wednesday, February 23,

from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Guest speakers will include Star Banner Editorial Writer, Brad Rogers; Industry Relations

Manager for VISIT FLORIDA and social media expert, Nate Long; and Emmy Award winning journalist and

managing editor of GTN News on the Gainesville Television Network, Sia Nyorkor. The Media

Makeover/Takeover event will take place at the Marion County Emergency Operations Center, 692 NW 30th

Avenue, Ocala.

        People in the “hot seat” with media outlets have the chance to sharpen their skills and enhance their

experience with this Media Makeover / Takeover event. FPRA-Ocala members, guests, and anyone wanting to

better their media relations skills is welcome to attend. Learn what reporters really want, how to maintain that

“in control” mindset, and learn why Tweets, posts, and RSS feeds are taking over the traditional news desk. For

pre-paid FPRA-Ocala members, this session is $10. For non pre-paid members and other guests, this session

        FPRA is dedicated to developing public relations practitioners, who, through ethical and standardized

practices, enhance the public relations profession in Florida. FPRA is comprised of 15 professional and 10

student chapters throughout the state, providing professional development, networking and professional

recognition opportunities.

        The Ocala FPRA Chapter,, was established in 1980. Members and guests meet the

third Friday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at the Ocala Hilton on State Road 200, unless otherwise specified.
