Nemo Outdoor uses perceptual evaluation of speech quality (PESQ-LQO ITU-T P862.1, 862.2)
measurement technology provided under licence from Psytechnics. Psytechnics is the industry-
leading provider of software solutions for assessing and managing QoE for real-time voice and
video. The basic measurement principle is the transmission of a reference speech sample through
the system to be assessed and evaluating the (deteriorated) output signal. The estimation of the
MOS is performed by applying a psycho-acoustical model of the human audio perception both on
the received and the reference signal and comparing the results of the model. With the Terratec
DMX 6Fire USB sound card or Maya44 USB sound card up to four VQ measurement ends can be
supported simultaneously.
