Message from the US Organizing Executive Committee:

On behalf of our U.S. Environmental Business Delegation to Vietnam
and our Conference Secretariat, I am honored to welcome you to our
forums entitled, ―Technology Solutions for Vietnam’s Sustainable
Economic Development Goals‖ in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. During
the past year, we have organized a Vietnam Environmental Business
Forum in Washington D.C. featuring Ambassador Le Cong Phung and
hosted numerous environment and climate change delegations from
Vietnam to share our public-private perspectives. Following up on this

Ten years ago, the trade between Vietnam and the United States was
close to that between the United States and Haiti. No longer. Vietnam
has a young, educated population that speaks English. It has a stable
political system. And with costs in China rising, many are turning to
other Asian venues for manufacturing. Enter Vietnam. It is a dynamic
place and needs creative thinking on tough climate change and
environmental issues. And needs it now. We are happy you are with us
and hope the delegation helps build long-term, mutually beneficial
                                                relationships.

The threat of environmental pollution, extreme weather events, and climate change pose serious challenges to societies and ecosystems
around the world, particularly in Vietnam. IMSG understands the technological, scientific, policy, financial and socioeconomic consequences of
these challenges and seeks partners that will work with us to protect and improve the quality of Vietnamese life and its environment. Through
partnerships, we believe we can bring together the best science, engineering and management to find innovative, multidisciplinary and
sustainable solutions to today’s most difficult environmental problems. Our current work includes state-of-the-art remote weather and
environmental sensing algorithms for NOAA and a planning study for the development of a modern meteorological service for Ghana.

Comments:
IMSG’s marine environmental services staff could be a significant resource to the Vietnamese fisheries and aquaculture industries – two
important components of Vietnam’s economy. IMSG has a specialized team of marine environmental scientists that design, conduct and
manage sustainable marine environmental solutions. Using our extensive logistical planning and support capabilities, our experts help our
clients understand and address complex physical, biological and chemical effects in coastal zone management, fisheries habitat conservation,
coral reef protection, and marine protected areas. Our team has successfully completed numerous projects on inland waters, estuaries,
offshore locations and in remote regions of the world (e.g., Pacific and Caribbean islands). Our diverse experience with these locations and
clients makes us particularly sensitive to the political and economical implications of our findings, in addition to their ecological and regulatory
consequences.

Overview:
The Maryland-Asia Environmental Partnership (MD-AEP) is a private sector initiative, comprised of over 500 stakeholders that is mobilizing
resources and expertise from private investors and corporations, government agencies and multilateral banks to address Asia’s massive
energy, water and pollution prevention needs. Throughout Asia, government officials are grappling with major environmental management and
resource concerns at the national and local level. What is often lacking is a holistic approach to address the gamut of lessons learned and
appropriate resources for future sustainable development planning needs.

If your organization is seeking environmental solutions to your water, energy or climate change needs, the Maryland-Asia Environmental
Partnership is the place for partnerships. We are a unique catalyst for sustainable environmental solutions providing access to environmental
research, technology and services to connect U.S. lessons-learned, know-how and resources to countries in Asia. MD-AEP takes a
sophisticated approach to its business engagement as we look to bridge Maryland-Asia partnerships from a local country standpoint and solve
environmental problems with sustainable business outcomes. By engaging the MD-AEP, participating public-private groups will have an
unparalleled opportunity to belong to a supply chain of resources critical to navigating Asia’s environmental marketplace.

Technologies and Services Related to Vietnam:
MD-AEP acts as a catalyst to bring key investors and technology solutions to Vietnam to help meet the countries environment and climate
change needs. The delegation that is coming to Vietnam is reflective of that effort.

Listing of Key Clients, Projects or Experience in Asia:
We work closely with our partners in Vietnam, China, Singapore, the Philippines and elsewhere to provide holistic solutions to their
environmental needs. Over 500 U.S. and Asian business organizations have participated in MD-AEP events and benefits from our services.
These organizations represent some of the most significant environmental business players in the U.S. and Asia. Our team, based across the
U.S. and Asia, represents top level expertise across the spectrum from the technology, finance, legal, environmental, green manufacturing,
science, policy and academia sectors.

Trade Mission Objective/ Partnerships We Are Seeking:
As a result of this trade mission and the forums we are conducting in Vietnam this week, MD-AEP looks to further its partnerships in-country
with key business, government a scientific organizations and continue collaborations that will lead to public-private solutions to Vietnam’s
environment and climate change needs.
