Dear Engr. Esperancilla,

We are pleased to invite a plenary speaker from your department, to the forum entitled “The Science
behind Global Climate Change and its Social Impacts - A Philippine and Eastern Visayas Setting” to
be conducted on July, 2010 at the _____________. This short forum aims to update participants from
member institutions of Region VIII regarding the environmental and socio-political issues related to
climate change.

We would like the speaker to discuss about “Current Issues, Researches and Solutions implemented
for Climate Change - Eastern Visayas in Focus” on July, 2010 at 10:45 A.M. You may prepare a
30-40 minute presentation on the topic of interest. Your participation will be invaluable in this inter-
institutional event.

The aim of the speaker’s plenary is to acquaint the participants with the current issues and concerns on
climate change in Eastern Visayas. It will further discuss the ongoing solutions that are being
implemented by the different government agencies to address and mitigate the impact of climate
change in the Philippines and Eastern Visayas in particular. Thus, the participants will know and
assess how they can contribute to these solutions.

May we request you to give us your confirmation on or before March 1,2010 through Dr. Eulito V.
Casas Jr. at the Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of the Philippines
