Microspheres

DESCRIPTION Microspheres are ceramic hollow microspheres with a shell composition of aluminosilicate and are filled with a gas mixture of CO2 and N2. PHYSICAL PROPERTIES Physical Appearance: Specific Gravity: Bulk Density: Particle Size: pH: Average Wall Thickness: Crush Strength: Softening Point: APPLICATION Microspheres are used to reduce slurry density to as low as 1,000 kg/m3. These lightweight slurries are typically used in areas with low fracture gradients to eliminate the need for multistage cementing. Microspheres are not recommended for use where the bottom hole pressure exceeds the crush strength of the microsphere. Microspheres may be added at up to 150% by weight of cement. MIXING AND HANDLING Microspheres are compatible with all classes of cement but must be dry blended and not premixed in the water. Use good industrial hygiene practice and wear goggles and a dust mask when handling the material. For further handling and safety instructions consult Material Safety Data Sheet.
