On behalf of the Kentucky Section PGA, thank you for offering your facility to us for the 2009
Powerbilt Kentucky Open Championship. The golf course and its superb conditioning provided
a tough test for the contestants, and the club’s facilities provided a true Championship experience.
I would also like to offer a special note of thanks to your staff. Each went out of their way to
serve the contestants and members of our staff, and we simply could not have asked for a more
positive experience or better service. Thanks again. The 2009 Powerbilt Kentucky Open will be long
remembered as a great event from beginning to end.

   The Golfers
   of Olde Stone
T he month of October officially marked the start of Olde Stone’s fifth year of operation. Quite a bit has taken place since opening in 2005. The Club has hosted two
AJGA tournaments, the 2008 Junior Ryder Cup, 2009 NCAA Men’s Golf Regional, and the 2009 Kentucky Open. The Course has been recognized by Golf Digest
and Golf Weekly as one of the best in the country. And possibly the best measure of success for Olde Stone can be found in the accomplishments of our members. As
the course has matured so has the skills of its golfers through use of the Learning Center, lessons from our professionals, and testing of skills on The Course.

Brent’s grandfather, Max Long, taught him the game and rules of golf when he

Grandfather Long was always the one to take him. Two events in 2009 were
turning points for Brent: a 3rd place finish in the Powerbilt Kentucky Open
and his first top ten finish as a professional on the Hooters Tour. In 2010 he is

Junior Golf Program
     at Olde Stone
The Junior Golf Program at Olde Stone took place over the course of 5 weeks this
summer. Each Friday, Olde Stone’s Golf Staff held clinics with the junior golfers.
They were taught the basic techniques of golf and practiced on the range. The
last day of clinic involved a skills challenge. During this time each participant
competed in putting, chipping, and longest drive competitions.

The Golf Staff at Olde Stone enjoys working with the youngest members of
Olde Stone, and ultimately furthering the mission of the PGA by promoting and
growing the game of golf. For more information on how your child can become
involved with Junior Golf, or to keep the lessons going, contact the Golf Staff by
