How to Write an MLA Book Citation
A Necessary Word about Citation Spacing.
Citations in formal research papers are typed. Therefore, throughout this presentation you will see “^”. “^” denotes where the spaces should be included in the citation. Mrs. B encourages her students to put two spaces after each part of the citation so that at least one of the two spaces is seen. Spaces are important because they clearly show the separation between parts. Macintosh software often times does not show the placement of only one typed space.

Title of the Part” the author’s name should be located at the beginning or end of the part. If the author’s name is not found in either place skip 1. Author Name and start with 2: Title of the Part.
