The Tennis Foundation (TF) is pleased to announce that Geoff Newton has
been appointed as its Executive Director.

Mr Newton is currently Director 2012 at the London Development Agency,
with responsibility for delivering social and economic benefits for London
through the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. He previously held senior
management roles at Marks and Spencer, The Peninsular and Oriental Steam
Navigation Company (P&O) and as Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute
of Logistics and Transport.

Mr Newton has been involved in tennis throughout his life, at club, county and
international levels. He is also a member of the Committee of Management
which has responsibility for organising The Championships, Wimbledon.

Jonathan Lane, Chairman of the Tennis Foundation, said: “Geoff has a wealth
of senior management experience across business, and a long-standing
involvement in tennis, so I am delighted he is joining the Tennis Foundation
as Executive Director. He will play a key role in our partnership to grow and
develop British tennis with the LTA, with whom we share a vision for a
growing, accessible sport.”

Mr Newton will take up his post in early 2011.

The Tennis Foundation is a charity (registration number 2138124) focused on the
development of tennis, including schools and disability tennis. It works primarily through the
central and county based resources of the LTA. The Foundation plays a key role in the drive
to increase access to tennis for people of all ages and abilities.

The Executive Director acts as the chief operating officer of the Tennis Foundation, and

    senior management, including 3 years in charge of M&S Foods in Europe

   Galea Cup – represented GB in 1971
