4. Solution Description

4.1 Reliability Options

Reliability offerings for the DEFINITY BCS R9 will be consistent with those offered in the previous Issues
5 and 6. The Compact Modular Cabinet (CMC) supports only the Standard level of reliability. The ESCC
and MCC support two levels of reliability: Standard and High. Critical is not supported.

The reliability options are listed below:

Standard Reliability
The standard reliability configuration is available in all systems. It has no duplicated hardware, and
includes the following:
One single control carrier
One tone clock circuit pack per Port Network (PN)
Port networks interconnected by single cables

High Reliability
The high reliability configuration is available only in the G3si and G3r systems. These systems require the
following:
Duplicate control carriers in the PPN cabinet
Duplicate PPN Tone-clocks, one in each control carrier
One tone-clock per Expansion Port Network (EPN)
Port networks interconnected by single cables

As stated above, duplication is supported on the ESCC and MCC models. Please refer to Section 10.3 for
Configuration / Design considerations.

4.2 DEFINITY BCS Hardware Description

The DEFINITY BCS System will operate on the Compact Modular Cabinet (CMC), Enhanced Single-
Carrier Cabinet (ESCC), G3si Multi-Carrier and G3r Multi-Carrier cabinets (MCC). With BCS R9 the
memory on the CMC and ESCC will be expanded hence these models will contain new processors.
Additionally, the G3r will contain a 4th memory card.

4.2.1 BCS R9 CMC and ESCC Processor Enhancements
With DEFINITY Release 9, the CMC/csi and ESCC/si systems will have new processor packs providing
increased memory. The packs will provide the same basic functions that their predecessors did; however,
the amount of memory will double. In addition, the amount of flash card memory will increase and the type
of card will change. This memory growth is required to support new and future features.

Prior to R9, the csi used a TN798B processor circuit pack and the si used a TN790B processor circuit pack.
Both packs contained 16 Mbytes of flash read only memory (ROM) and 16 Mbytes of dynamic random
access memory (DRAM). Translations were stored in nonvolatile memory on a 12-volt linear flash card.
With R9, the csi will use a TN2402 processor circuit pack and the si will use a TN2404 processor circuit

                                            AVAYA Inc. Proprietary
Use Pursuant to Company Instructions 5
DEFINITY® BCS R9 United States and Canada
Product Definition Indirect Channels
______________________________________________________________________

pack. These packs will contain 32 Mbytes of ROM and 32 Mbytes of DRAM. In addition, translations will
be stored in nonvolatile memory on a 5-volt ATA flash card.
On the csi, the processor board will read from and write to the flash cards, while on the si, a new NetPkt,
TN2401 circuit pack, will be required to read from and write to the cards. The R9 csi processor and the R9
NetPkt will not be able to save translations to older (R8 and earlier) 12V flash cards. However, they will be
able to read older flash cards.

In addition to the voltage and format changes, the width of the R9 flash cards will change. They will be 1.7
millimeters thicker, for a width of 5 mm. This should prevent someone from accidentally using them on a
R8 or older system.

The table below shows a mapping from the pre-R9 flash cards to the new R9 cards:

Pre-R9 Linear 12-volt Flash Cards R9 5-volt ATA Flash Cards
1 MB, 2 MB, 4 MB, and 10 MB  8 MB
(except 10 MB associated with DWBS)
10 MB associated with DWBS  16 MB
20 MB (orange card)  48 MB (orange card)

The next table summarizes the processor changes:

Model Circuit Packs (R8R9) ROM (R8R9) DRAM(R8R9)
csi Processor: TN798BTN2402 16 MB  32 MB 16 MB  32 MB
si Processor: TN790BTN2404 16 MB  32 MB 16 MB  32 MB
           NetPkt: TN794TN2401

Note even though the flash cards have increased in capacity, the switch still will only allow one
announcement board‘s recordings to be saved per card.

G3r 4th Memory Board

Prior to Release 9, the G3r system required three TN1650B Memory (32 MB) Boards. With R9, another
memory board will be required for a total of four. This fourth board will reside in the slot marked Memory
4 in the processor complex.

4.2.2 DEFINITY BCS Models and Circuit Packs

______________________________________________________________________

Enhanced Single Carrier Cabinet (ESCC)
The Enhanced Single Carrier Cabinet (ESCC) main cabinet contains 16 universal port slots housing the
common control hardware complex including the New RISC TN2404 processor circuit pack, and the New
TN2401 (NETCON/PACCON) circuit pack.

This platform will still allow the main cabinet and three additional expansion cabinets with 18 universal
slots to be mounted on top of each other providing a total of 70 universal slots for port circuit packs. The
ESCC is delivered with an AC power supply that is located at the right side of the cabinet.

Systems main circuit packs:

TN2402 Processor Circuit Pack (R9 CMC/csi)
 Controls the R9 base system software.
 Provides ISDN D Channel signaling for PRI and BRI trunk circuit packs across the TDM bus
to LAPD termination on the TN2402. D-channel signaling over the TDM bus requires a
maximum of 8 time slot pairs to support PRI trunks.
 The RISC CPU complex provides 4 to 32 MB of Flash PROM. The DRAM is provided via 1
SIMM. The TN2402 contains 32 MB of DRAM. The flash is not interleaved.
 The TN2402 processor does not provide X.25 communications, nor does it provide a
duplication option. The TN2402 does not contain an on-board modem. Instead, an external
modem must be connected to the RS-232E port previously used for the internal modem.
 The TN2402 is required for the csi model to save translations to the new 5-volt ATA flash
           memory card.

TN2404 Processor Circuit Pack (R9 ESCC/si)
 In R9si systems, the TN2404 processor circuit pack replaces the TN790B.
 Controls the R9 base system software.
 The TN2404 increases both the DRAM memory and the flash memory from 16 to 32 Mb.
 Designed to handle errors associated with the EM-BUS.
 The TN2404 includes an internal modem that can originate alarms to the TSC remote
maintenance system allowing the technicians to remotely execute maintenance and
administrative commands (providing the dealer or end-user has made arrangements for a
           dedicated CO line).

TN2401 Net/Pkt Interface Circuit Pack (R9 ESCC/si)
 In R9si systems, the TN2401 Net/Pkt interface circuit pack replaces the TN794.
 The TN2401 provides the functionality of the TN777B network control interface (NETCON),
the TN778 packet interface (PACCON), and, if BX.25 connectivity is not required, the
           TN765 processor interface (PI).
 The TN2401 provides eight asynchronous data channels, whereas the NETCON TN777B
provides only four channels. It goes into the control carrier slot that was used by the NETCON
           TN777B.
 The TN2401 does not include modems. The TN2401 is required for the si model to save
translations to the new 5-volt ATA flash memory card.

The TN2182 Tone-Clock circuit pack integrates the tone generator, tone detection-call classifier, system
clock, and synchronization functions onto one circuit pack for all system reliability configurations. The
TN2182 supports eight ports for tone detection and provides Stratum 4 enhanced clock accuracy. One
Tone-Clock is required and delivered with the BCS CMC and ESCC models.

DEFINITY BCS Bundles

4.2.3 Firmware Download Capability
With DEFINITY R9, some circuit packs will change to provide firmware download capabilities to the
board. This means that the firmware or application code on the circuit pack can be remotely updated.
Today when a circuit pack requires a firmware update, a technician must be dispatched to the customer‘s
site to obtain the board and then they must physically send it back to the factory for reprogramming. With
firmware download capabilities, both the technician dispatch and the factory return are eliminated. The
advantage of this is that it will reduce both services and factory costs. The main benefit to the customer is
that they can self-administer the updates instead of scheduling on-site maintenance. The download is
available to them 24 hours a day. This will allow them to more quickly and easily apply QPPCN's to their
systems, as there will be no need to wait for a dispatched technician on EVERY QPPCN. Finally,
customers would not need to pay overtime T&M for their QPPCN.

Besides R9 software and circuit packs with firmware download capabilities, the C Version of the Control
LAN (C-LAN) Board (TN799C) will be required. Please refer to the section on CLAN Change for more
information on the TN799C.

Note Circuit pack TN2464BP has been delayed. It now targeted for the 1 st QTR 2001.

The intent of this new enhancement to DEFINITY will be to allow our customers (end-users and business
partners) to pull QPPCNs from the customer self-service website and apply them directly to their circuit
packs, without the need or intervention from an Avaya associate. This allows the end-user the flexibility to
manage changes at their convenience. There will be no charge associated with downloads that are marked
as QPPCNs. Customers will be able to access and download the firmware image on site utilizing Avaya's
Customer Self-service web site at http://support.avaya.com/.

Required Hardware and Software in DEFINITY for Firmware Download:
 DEFINITY R9 Software or greater (R9 SW, versioned as an earlier release is OK.)
 A TN799C CLAN board, or later
 One or more Downloadable Circuit Packs

Customer Required Hardware and Software for Firmware Download:

4.2.5 Control LAN (C-LAN) Circuit Pack Change TN799C R9

The C-LAN circuit pack was first introduced with DEFINITY R7 and it has been enhanced with each
release since then. With R7, the circuit pack provided TCP/IP connectivity over Ethernet or PPP (Point to
Point Protocol) connections to synchronous applications, such as CMS, INTUITY AUDIX, and DCS. With
the DEFINITY BCS Issue 5 (working on R7), it only provided connectivity to the INTUITY AUDIX. This
simplified the connections between the adjunct equipment and the DEFINITY; thereby, reducing the costs
to the customer. Data modules or ADUs are no longer required to connect the adjuncts to the DEFINITY.
In addition, it allowed the BCS CMC to support all the INTUITY AUDIX Platforms (Map 5, Map 40 and
Map 100) via C-LAN integration instead of mode code integration.

The TN799B was introduced with DEFINITY R8.1 and BCS with Issue 6 working on R8.2. It added
support for the TN802B (DEFINITY IP Interface Board) translated in the MedPro operating mode for IP
Solutions. In the MedPro operating mode, the C-LAN board is used for all signaling for IP trunks
supported by the BCS product and for DEFINITY ECS it included the IP stations as well. In addition, the
TN799B added support for a new customer maintenance command called ―trace route‖. This command
allows the user to trace the route that the data takes through the network.

In BCS R9, the C-LAN (TN799B or later) board will have the capability to connect asynchronous
DEFINTY adjuncts to the DEFINITY via TCP/IP. Switch server type applications such as the System
Management systems (i.e., SAT Terminal, DSA (DEFINITY Site Administration) and Directory Gateway)
will be able to connect into the C-LAN Board on the DEFINITY over an Ethernet connection. In the
future, switch client type applications such as Call Detail Recording (CDR), Property Management System
(PMS), PMS Wake-up Log and Journal Printer, and System Printer will be able to connect into the C-LAN
board. Any of these adjuncts that support the TCP/IP interface will have an end-to-end LAN solution using
TCP/IP. Applications that do not support TCP/IP would require an Ethernet Terminal Server in order to
connect to the Clan board. Both of these options allow the customer to eliminate the need for costly data
modules or ADUs for their adjunct connectivity.

The TN799C (available with Release 9) vintage of the C-LAN is required to support the firmware
download capability for the firmware downloadable circuit packs.

4.2.6 Global AC MCC Power Supply
With R9, the DEFINITY MCC (Multi-Carrier Cabinet) platform‘s power supply will be simplified to two
options instead of the present four options: -48V DC input or 200-240V AC input. The Global MCC
(GMCC) power supply was introduced in Release 5 for International Systems; however, with R9 it will

truly become a global offering applying to both the US and International Systems. It will replace the
existing 208/240VAC US MCC cabinet configuration, thereby reducing the number of power supplies and
distribution units associated with the MCC platform.

The GMCC automatically accepts 200 to 240 volt AC power at 50 or 60HZ and complies with all emissions
and safety requirements for customer applications worldwide. The power system consists of NP850
Rectifiers, 649A Power Supplies, one Battery Interface/Alarm Unit, battery connections, and alarm outputs.
The NP850 Rectifiers are cabinet level power units located in the power distribution unit at the bottom of
the MCC cabinet. The 649A Power Supplies are DC/DC converters providing carrier level power. The
cabinet input cord is a NEMA 6-30P or a cord with an un-terminated end.

The GMCC power architecture offers the option of short and long term power backup. Short-term backup
is provided via batteries internal to the MCC cabinet and long term is via external battery cabinets. Because
of the long-term power backup capabilities, the GMCC will also significantly reduce or eliminate the need
for UPS for most customer applications.

The table below provides a comparison between the GMCC and the old AC MCC:

Y = Available
N = Not Available

Notes:
1. Optional features require an additional RTU
2. When PEC 6297-HSP is requested both Hospitality (Basic) and Hospitality (G3V3 Enhancements) will
be required to be turned on the customer options form in order for the customer to receive the
    GuestWorks feature set.
3. Mode Code is available. With R9 this feature has been moved to the system features page. Activation
by the COE is no longer necessary.
4. Dial by Name is also available but must be activated by the COE. Note this feature is on the special
applications form. (Requires an integrated announcement board, TN750)
5. Basic Supplementary Services available with Issue 4 will not be available with Issues 5/6.
6. Optional features such as BCMS, Telecommuting (Call Coverage off-net), IP Trunk, CVM-IMC,
7. Tenant Partitioning will carry an RTU software charge.
8. ARS/AAR Dialing without FAC - allows the system to be administered so that callers can place
Automatic Route Selection (ARS) and/or Automatic Alternate Routing (AAR) calls without first
dialing the Feature Access Code (FAC). The flexibility added to support this capability is intended for
and supported only for this described capability. It is NOT to be used or sold to meet any other need.
If used for any other purpose other than dialing ARS/AAR calls without a FAC, systems may not
behave as expected (i.e. terminal display information may be impacted). It is STRONGLY
RECOMMENDED that systems with this feature active do not activate transfer out of the voice mail
system. Additionally, other adjuncts should be checked to verify that calls would not be allowed off-
switch unintentionally. ARS/AAR Dialing without FAC feature GA in R8.3. The feature will use a
9xxxx Special Application PEC code and requires the customer to pay a RTU fee. Although
ARS/AAR Dialing without FAC appears on the customer options screen, this feature can only be
ordered and activated by using the Special Application Domestic and International Green feature
Activation Process described in the Rapid Response Team web site
http://info.dr.lucent.com/rapid_response/ inside Avaya firewall. Each customer activating this feature
will be required to go through an approval process to determine if they are an appropriate candidate for
    the feature.

4.3.3 Call Center
DEFINITY BCS R9 will add two new call center capabilities: Holiday Vectoring and Remote logout of
agent. DEFINITY BCS R9 will continue to support the same call center capacities and capabilities
supported with DEFINITY BCS Issue 6.

Holiday Vectoring
By utilizing Holiday Vectoring, a lodging establishment can process calls based on a ―holiday‖ condition.
Ten different holiday tables can be created and will allow various holidays to receive different treatment via
vector processing (Holiday Vectoring can be used for actual Holiday treatment or it could be used for a
promotion or any date/date range where special vector processing is required). Note this feature will not
increase the number of vectors in Offer B.

Holiday Vectoring is controlled by a customer option. Based on the following conditions, the customer
option can be enabled if:

     1) The call center version is 9.1 or greater and
     2) Either Vectoring (Basic) or Attendant Vectoring is enabled (with Offer B both features are turned
on by the defaulted translation card)

There are no offer category restrictions on this feature. It is available on both Offer Category A
(DEFINITY ECS & ProLogix) and Offer Category B (GuestWorks and DEFINITY BCS). Also, no special
hardware is required beyond a basic DEFINITY setup.

Remote Logout of Agent - allows a select set of users to log out an agent via a feature access code
procedure

Basic Call Vectoring
DEFINITY BCS offer will support basic call vectoring, call prompting, attendant vectoring and with BCS
R9 Holiday Vectoring. A maximum of 10 vectors and 10 VDN‘s will be supported and included for the
CMC and ESCC models. On the G3r a maximum of 20 vectors and 20 VDN‘s will be supported and
included. The following identifies Call Vectoring/Direct access commands supported and not supported
with the DEFINITY BCS offer. Detailed information can be found in the new DEFINITY BCS and

CALL VECTORING/DIRECT ACCESS COMMANDS AVAILABLE IN BCS/GW 3.1 OR LATER
Announcement Provides the caller with a recorded announcement.
Busy Gives the caller a busy signal and causes termination of vector processing.
Collect Digits Collects up to 16 digits that are either entered by the caller during vector processing or
sent by the network. An optional announcement can be played first when the digits are
being collected directly from the caller.
Disconnect Ends treatment of a call and removes the call from the switch. The command also
allows the optional assignment of an announcement that will play immediately before
                the disconnect.
Go to Vector Branching step that allows conditional or unconditional movement to a preceding or
succeeding step in the vector. Conditional branching is determined by a number of
                factors.
Route-to Digits Routes the call to the destination specified by a set of digits collected from the caller by
                the previous collect digits step.
Route-to Routes the call to the destination specified by the administered digit string.
Number
Stop Terminates the processing of any subsequent vector steps.
Wait-Time Used to specify whether the caller will hear ringback, system music, silence, or an

delays the processing of the next vector step by the specified delay time that is included
                   in the command‘s syntax.

4 (DEFINITY ECS R6.2), BCS/GW ISSUE 5 (DEFINITY R7), AND BCS/GW ISSUE 6 (DEFINITY
ECS R8), BUT ARE NOT SUPPORTED IN BCS/GW ISSUE 3
Check Split Command conditionally checks the status of a split for possible termination of the call
to that split. The command either connects the call to an agent in the split or puts the
call into the split‘s queue if the condition specified as part of the command is met.
Messaging Split Allows the caller to leave a message for a specified extension or the VDN extension.
Queue-to Split Unconditionally queues a call to a split and assigns a queuing priority level to the call
in case no agents are available. A call sent with this command either connects to an
agent in the split or enters the split‘s queue.
Converse-on Integrates Voice Response Units (VRUs) with the DEFINITY switch. Specifically, the
Split command allows voice response scripts to be executed while the call remains in queue,
and it allows the passing of data between the DEFINITY switch and the VRU.
Time of Day Checks for non-business hours. Provides the caller with information on valid company
operating hours. Example: Go to step XXX, if time of day is XXX.

4.4.4 Centralized Voice Mail via Inter-switch Mode Code
Solution Overview
Centralized Voice Mail via Inter-switch Mode Code (CVM-IMC) is a new feature that will be supported
starting with DEFINITY R8.2 for an all DEFINITY network. With DEFINITY R8.3 support will begin for
a combined network of MERLIN and DEFINITY. This feature provides the end-user with the capability to
share a voice mail system among several switches using Mode Code-Voice Mail Interface.

With DEFINITY R8.2, the network could consist of DEFINITY ECS R8.2, DEFINITY ProLogix R3, and
DEFINITY BCS Issue 6. Effective July 3, 2000 with DEFINITY R8.3 the network can include
MERLIN MAGIX and MERLIN LEGEND R6.1 or greater systems.

Centralized voice messaging applications supported include voice mail, auto attendant, and fax messaging.
Message Waiting notification is provided to the remote sites over the PRI private trunks‘ D-Channel.

Switches that are supported by CVM-IMC must be directly connected to the hub switch (DEFINITY) via a
point-to-point T1 circuit programmed within the system for PRI. Note you would only need to order a
point-to-point T1 circuit from the PSTN provider, not a PRI circuit.

A point-to-point fractional T1 can also be ordered from the PSTN provider. In doing so, one needs to make
sure the 24th channel is part of the fractional T1 requested. This channel is used as the D-channel by the
switches for signaling purposes, such as message waiting light updates. The customer may also place drop
and insert equipment between the switches connected by a PRI private trunk as long as they don‘t drop the
signaling channel.

Target Market

 Small to mid-sized multi-site customers
 Customers that require the ability to share a voice mail in the following scenarios:
 An all DEFINITY BCS private network
 A combined DEFINITY BCS, ECS, and ProLogix private network
 A combined private network consisting of MERLIN MAGIX/MERLIN LEGEND systems and
DEFINITY ECS, ProLogix, or DEFINITY BCS system
 Typical construct is 4-6 locations
 10 maximum locations will be supported in the network including the hub

 Maximum 450 voice mail subscribers in the entire network
 Typical Industries include: Schools, Local government, Car dealerships, Banking, Insurance
Feature Requirements / Considerations

General Feature Requirements
 Uniform Dial Plan (UDP) and PRI Private Network Facilities (Point-To-Point T1 programmed in
   switch as PRI)
 The shared voice mail system must be connected to a DEFINITY hub (Not a MERLIN
   MAGIX/MERLIN LEGEND hub)
 All remote switches must be directly connected to the hub (No tandem switches but in a star
   configuration)
 Release Link Trunks or Re-Routing are not supported

DEFINITY Feature Requirements
 The switches supported include DEFINITY ECS R8.2, ProLogix R3, and DEFINITY BCS Issue 6.
 UDP Dial Plan Considerations: In an all DEFINITY network a 4 or 5 digit dial plan can be supported
 You can not mix a DCS CVM using CLAN integration & CVM using Inter-switch Mode Code
integration in the same private network. One method of integrating the messaging system must be used.
A MERLIN MAGIX & MERLIN LEGEND system cannot share the voice messaging system when
   integrated using CLAN.
 The number of systems that can share one voice mail using Inter-switch Mode Code integration is 10
total. However, this number is also dependent on the number of D-channels that the hub DEFINITY
   switch can support.

The following table lists the total number systems supported in the private network, based on the
type of DEFINITY system used as the hub:

HUB DEFINITY ECS G3r DEFINITY ECS si DEFINITY ProLogix CMC

    ______________________________________________________________________

Releases supported: MERLIN MAGIX R1 or MERLIN LEGEND R6.1/R7.0.
Uniform Dial Plan (UDP) Considerations: In a combined MERLIN MAGIX/LEGEND - DEFINITY
network a 4-digit dial plan is required.

    Voice Messaging Considerations:
 The voice mail systems that are supported by this feature are INTUITY AUDIX MAP 5P R4.4 or later
and Octel 100 R3.2 or later.
 Voice mail systems integration to the switch can only be Mode Code.
 Dedicating ports is required for the Message Waiting Lamp (MWL) updates:
 INTUITY AUDIX requires one port, per voice port board
 Octel 100 requires one port per 4 voice ports, 2 ports per 8 voice ports, and 3 ports per 12 or 16 voice
        ports.
 INTUITY AUDIX maximum port capacity is 18 and Octel 100‘s maximum port capacity is 16.
 In a system reset following a power failure, switch-originated MWI audits are provided for the
INTUITY AUDIX voice messaging system but not on the OCTEL 100 system. The net effect is that
users may find that the status of their message lamps is not consistent with the existence of new
messages in their mailboxes. All UDP stations must be administered on the INTUITY AUDIX or Octel
100 system. Within INTUITY AUDIX, the parameter "transfer to subscribers only" must be
administered to ensure that INTUITY AUDIX will deny transfers to all but UDP stations.
 Unless the Personal Operator is changed for users at remote locations, prompting out to "0" will send
callers to the operator located at the DEFINITY hub.
 The messaging systems do not support multiple dial plans. Therefore, whenever MERLIN MAGIX &
MERLIN LEGEND is part of the network, a 4-digit dial plan must be used and in an all DEFINITY
network the dial plan can be either 4 or 5 digits, but not both simultaneously. Again, a combined
MERLIN MAGIX, MERLIN LEGEND and DEFINITY network requires R8.3 or later software in all
        DEFINITY switches.
 Beginning with INTUITY AUDIX R4, enhanced transfer security is available by administering the
allowed numbers list. Unless an UDP extension appears in this list, calls will not be able to be
        transferred to that user.
 INTUITY AUDIX MAP 40, INTUITY AUDIX MAP 100, DEFINITY AUDIX, AUDIX Voice Power,
DEFINITY One‘s integrated voice messaging system, and MERLIN MESSAGING are not supported
as the centralized voice messaging system.

    BENEFITS:
Provides an inexpensive networking solution with a shared voice mail for the small to mid-size market.
CVM-IMC is an alternative for the target market; it is not a replacement for DCS.
DEFINITY & MERLIN MAGIX/LEGEND customers require DEFINITY R8.3 in all the DEFINITY
    switches.
     - Message waiting indications at remote sites
     - Station name & number display transparency using PRI Private Trunks and UDP
Saves administrative time - one voice mail to administer
Easier communication among locations, because messages can be forwarded and broadcast to all users in
    the private network.

Centralized Voice Mail utilizing Distributed Communications System (DCS) and CLAN
integration will provide the following benefits over CVM via Inter-switch Mode Code
    integration:

CVM-DCS CVM-IMC
Does not need dedicated, point-to-point facilities: uses Point-to-point T1 facilities programmed in the switch for PRI
SDN or MCI N-Quest required

  Notes:
1: Without ―Call Transfer Into AUDIX‖, there are alternatives for customers.

The first is probably the most desirable.
  Options:
  1: Add a ―Go to Cover‖ feature button on user‘s sets:
For any user that may receive a coverage call (e.g., secretary), add a Go to Cover button on their set.
When the covering party receives a call and the distant party wishes to leave a message for the original
called party (e.g., the boss), the secretary presses TRANSFER, the boss‘ EXTENSION, and GO TO
COVER. When AUDIX answers with the boss‘s greeting, the secretary hits TRANSFER again and then
hangs up. The calling party now hears the boss‘s greeting and is able to record their message.

2: Use the automated attendant feature on INTUITY AUDIX. To do this:
Define an extension on the switch with all calls forwarded to the INTUITY AUDIX.
Administer the corresponding INTUITY AUDIX mailbox as ―automated attendant‖. Define the call
treatment as ―Call Answer‖ so that calls will be transferred into the message recipient‘s mailbox, and the
caller will hear the recipient‘s extension number or ―Please leave a message for <extension number>‖.
The covering party can answer the call, initiate a transfer to the automated attendant, enter the original
called party‘s extension, and complete the transfer. The calling party will hear the called party‘s greeting
and may leave a message. The called party will receive the message, but the header will indicate that the
call was from the covering party, not the original calling party.
Performance Comparison Inter-Switch Mode Code Versus CLAN Integration

Inter-switch Mode Code integration is a new cost effective approach to Centralized Voice Messaging
(CVM) using an INTUITY AUDIX MAP5P (R4.4 or later) or Octel 100 (R3.2 or later) system. It is
targeted for small to medium sized businesses, such as car dealerships, schools, local government, etc.
Inter-switch Mode Code integration allows a single DEFINITY system with a Centralized Voice Messaging
system to support a private network of MERLIN MAGIX, MERLIN LEGEND R6.1/R7, DEFINITY ECS
R8.2, DEFINITY ProLogix R3 and DEFINITY BCS Issue 6 systems.

Product Definition Indirect Channels
______________________________________________________________________

NOTE, A COMBINED DEFINITY AND MERLIN MAGIX/MERLIN LEGEND NETWORK WILL
REQUIRE DEFINITY R8.3 OR LATER SOFTWARE IN ALL THE DEFINITY SWITCHES.

The total private network cannot exceed more than 10 locations and 450 voice mailbox subscribers. A call
to any station in the network can be routed using call coverage, over a point-to-point T1 programmed in
each switch as PRI, to a single voice messaging system.

One of the items that must be considered when proposing CVM via Inter-switch Mode Code is the
performance inherent in Mode Code integration. It is imperative that the customer understand the
performance differences between Inter-switch Mode Code and the DEFINITY CLAN method of
integration. The performance differences are:

Answer Time
With Inter-switch Mode Code approximately 8 seconds of silence will be heard before the messaging
system answers. This is at least 2 more seconds than when using CLAN integration. The difference in
answer time is due to the Inter-switch Mode Code integration being an analog solution, using touch-tone
signaling, which is inherently slower than the digital CLAN integration. A typical scenario might be: a
station is programmed to ring 2 times before going to the first coverage point, and ring 2 more times before
going to voice mail. With Inter-switch Mode Code, the caller will then hear approximately 8 seconds of
silence before the voice mail system answers. This last delay could be longer depending on availability of
voice mail ports and, for remote sites, the availability of private network facilities.

Message Waiting Light Updates
Inter-switch Mode Code uses a voice mail port to transmit message waiting light updates to the switch. The
switch updates remote users over the PRI circuit‘s signaling D-channel (16K). To assure customer
satisfaction, it‘s required that one port, per voice port board, be dedicated for this function. Since Mode
Code integration is an analog solution, the message waiting light updates can take several seconds.
CLAN does not use a voice mail port to update message waiting lights or the PRI circuit‘s signaling D-
channel. Instead it uses TCP/IP (10Mbps or greater) to update both local and remote users. As a result, the
updates are nearly instantaneous.

Message retrieval
The difference in message retrieval answer time between Inter-switch Mode Code and CLAN integration is
minimal. However, message retrieval performance for both methods of integration is dependent on the
availability of a voice mail port and for remote users, the availability of a private network facility.

Summary
Since the answer time and message notification will take longer than with CLAN integration, Inter-switch
Mode Code is not recommended for businesses such as brokerage firms, emergency services, etc., where
speed is critical.

Because call answer time does not take as long with CLAN integration, it‘s a better solution than Inter-
switch Mode Code for customers who need multiple points of coverage.

It may take fewer voice mail ports to support the same number of users with CLAN than Inter-switch Mode
Code, because dedicating ports for message waiting light updates is not necessary and call answer time is
faster. In other words, the same size messaging system can support more users with CLAN integration than
with Inter-switch Mode Code integration.

Since performance is also dependent on the availability of a voice mail port, it‘s important to remind you
that Inter-switch Mode Code integration supports either an INTUITY AUDIX MAP5P system (max. port
capacity = 18) or an Octel 100 (max. port capacity = 16). However, when using CLAN integration the
INTUITY AUDIX MAP40P or MAP100P messaging systems are also offered, which can support more
ports for better performance.

Below are two common CVM-IMC installation problems:
Problem 1: Message Waiting Lights are not updating at the Merlin locations.
Solution 1: When adding subscribers to an INTUITY AUDIX system, all local and remote subscribers
MUST be assigned to Switch ID 1 (a.k.a. Node 1). Unlike DEFINITY DCS & CLAN integration, where
each remote site is assigned an individual Switch ID. When using inter-switch mode code integration, if
local and remote users are not all assigned to Switch ID 1, message waiting lights will not be updated for
remote users.

Problem 2: Unable to enter the MERLIN MAGIX/LEGEND message waiting light feature access codes
(#53, #*53) as the DEFINITY LWC feature access codes. DEFINITY doesn't allow a Feature Access Code
that contains both a "#" and "*".
Solution 2: Keep the DEFINITY LWC defaults (#90 & #91), even when Merlin is part of the network. The
DEFINITY LWC codes must match the VMS settings NOT the Merlin message waiting light feature access
codes, in order for message waiting light updates across the private networks d-channel.

Configuration Tools for CVM-IMC

For DEFINITY ECS/ProLogix Switches:
Use the ATTOMS G3V2 or G3V2UPGD Configurator for all DEFINITY ECS or ProLogix Switches in the
Network.
On the Optional Feature Software Screen indicate CVM for each switch in the network. Remember that the
configurator will not design the CVM network. It will only provide the appropriate software RTU for the
specific switch that is being designed.
For a ProLogix, CVM and ISDN software will be required. For a DEFINITY ECS, CVM, UDP and ISDN
software will be required.
Note you can not have DCS and CVM software on the same switch.

For DEFINITY BCS Switches:
Use the BCS Product Solution Tool (Excel Spreadsheet) for each BCS switch in the network.
Request CVM Software on each switch in the network.
Do not request DEFINITY AUDIX, as it is not supported with CVM. If you are using an Octel 100 then it
can be designed in the spreadsheet. However, for an INTUITY you will need to use the ATTOMS
INTUITY Configurator.

For MERLIN MAGIX/LEGEND Switches:
There are no changes to the existing configurator for this feature.

For INTUITY AUDIX MAP5P (See below for Velocity):
Use the ATTOMS INTUITY Configurator.
On Screen 6 – REQ6: Switch Related, indicate PL for the Associated Switch Type and MCODE for the
Integration Type: SW-IN. Note, presently the configurator only allows you to quote mode code
integration with a ProLogix Switch. It does not allow you to indicate a DEFINITY BCS or ECS switch and
mode code. Therefore, you must select PL for the switch type in order to guarantee the correct integration
for the INTUITY AUDIX system, even though you may be quoting a DEFINITY BCS or ECS system.

Run your design as normal. Review the Configuration Report. Determine from the report the required
number of ports equipped (including growth) and the required number of ports activated (including growth).
If the number of ports equipped and activated is from 1 to 6 ports then you will need to add 1 additional
port for MWI updates.
If the number of ports equipped and activated is from 7 to 12 ports then you will need to add 2 additional
ports for MWI updates.
If the number of ports equipped and activated is from 13 to 15 ports then you will need to add 3 additional
ports for MWI updates.
Remember this feature is only supported on the MAP5 INTUITY (you can not use a MAP40 or MAP100)
and 1 additional port per each IVC6 card is required for MWI updates. Therefore, the maximum voice
ports supported are 15 for traffic and 3 for MWI updates.
Go back into your design and add the additional equipped and active ports required. Note if you used
Screen 7 AUDIX-Standard Design, then you can add the appropriate number of ports under the Growth
Ports Equipped and Active.

For INTUITY VELOCITY MAP5P
Use the ATTOMS INT-VELO Configurator
On Screen 2 – INTUITY Velocity Model/Package you will need to request custom for Velocity Type.
For Package, you must select one of the MAP5 Options:
- 5/1 for MAP5 100 mailboxes by 4 ports.
- 5/2 for MAP5 200 Mailboxes by 8 ports.
- 5/3 for MAP5 300 mailboxes by 12 ports.
Finally for the Associated Switch make sure you indicate PL-MC for mode code integration.

Note, if you require more than 300 mailboxes and 12 ports, then presently this would have to be added to
your design manually using the following PECs:

70849 IVC6 Board
1256-VP2 RTU 2 Voice Ports
1259-MB1 INTUITY AUDIX R5 Addl. Mailboxes- 25
1259-MB2 INTUITY AUDIX R5 Addl. Mailboxes - 100

For Octel 100
There are no changes to the configurator for this feature. However, when selecting the number of voice
ports, remember that the Octel 100 also uses a voice port for MWI updates. The following table should be
used to determine the assignment of the ports:

Ports/System # of Voice Ports # of Ports for MWI
4 3 1

include all Private Networking capabilities

Note 2: CCRON/Telecommuting SFW RTU is only required if your customer needs multiple points
of coverage across the private network. For example, if a user at location A wants their calls to cover
to a user at location B first & then to their voice mailbox if location B doesn’t answer, CCRON is
required. But if the only point of coverage across the private network is to the centralized voice mail
system, CCRON is not required.

Avaya INADS group and Business Partner Care Center will handle feature activation for the US. Lucent
Canada will follow local procedures.

4.3.5 IP Asynchronous Links
Starting with BCS Issue 5 (Release 7), the DEFINITY BCS was able to connect to INTUITY adjuncts over
a LAN. Starting with Release 9 we will begin to enable asynchronous DEFINITY applications to connect
and communicate over a customer‘s Ethernet LAN. The first application to be introduced will allow a
telnet server to interconnect C-LAN Ethernet clients to system management type applications such as
DEFINITY Site Administration (DSA). In the future the plans are to support other applications such as
CDR, PMS systems, and Printers. IP Asynchronous Links requires the C-LAN circuit pack, TN799B or
greater, within the DEFINITY.

IP Asynchronous Links creates customer value in multiple ways:

 Allows DEFINITY‘s overall price structure to be more competitive, while simplifying hardware needs
      and offering flexibility.
 Reduces the cost for connectivity to the DEFINITY for various adjuncts. Depending on the customer‘s
configuration, the hardware cost necessary to connect the adjuncts can be reduced up to 80% compared
      with our legacy technology.
 Allows for an open architecture (TCP/IP) for the transport of information along with increases in data
      transfer speed.
 Allows customers to manage their applications from any location, on-site or remotely by establishing a
      telnet session on the DEFINITY.
 Allows for several system management applications to run on a single PC; thereby, reducing hardware
      requirements.
 Provides flexible administration through ―IP Services‖ forms.
 Supports the customer‘s existing serial hardware investment using Network Terminal Servers.

For additional information, please refer to the ECS product definition.

4.4 Avaya R300 Remote Office Communicator (Avaya R300)
The Avaya R300 Remote Office Communicator (Avaya R300) solution addresses both the small of large
location where infrastructure may not be in place or sites where voice communications are required to work
in a subtended environment behind an existing data network. The Avaya R300 provides an effective
method for extending a full range of DEFINITY functionality at a remote site. The Avaya R300 also
provides voice and data convergence as voice and data can share the same WAN link between the
DEFINITY and the Remote Office.

The Avaya R300 unit is a small rack-mounted cabinet (1.72 in x 17.5 in. x 17 in.) that features two
expansion slots. One houses a DSP blade (VoIP option), and the other houses the new combo blade, which
will support the DCP as well as the analog line and trunk connections. The Avaya R300 allows for
remoting of up to 24 DCP sets and two analog lines from a host DEFINITY. A single DEFINITY switch

5.1 DEFINITY BCS CMC Model upgrades to BCS CMC R9
DEFINITY BCS CMC Issue 4, 5 and 6 (DEFINITY Software Release 6-8) with the TN798 or TN798B
processor upgrading to DEFINITY R9 CMC requires the new TN2402 Processor. These systems will have
their existing translations saved on a new R9 formatted Translation Memory Card by a technician during the
upgrade process. This while label card is shipped with the upgrade hardware PEC.

The authorized dealer retains the original translation memory card for a period of 10 days. This ensures an
upgrade with high integrity.

5.2 DEFINITY BCS ESCC Model Upgrades to BCS ESCC R9
DEFINITY BCS ESCC systems with an existing TN790 or 790B Processor upgrading to a R9 ESCC,
require a new TN2404 Processor and a TN2401 NetPkt or a TN2401/TN2400 Network Control/Packet
Control Assembly. Any BCS Issue 4 (R6) will have the old carrier back plane and therefore, will require
the TN2401/TN2400. For BCS Issue 5 (R7) and BCS Issue 6 (R8) systems, it is possible to have the old
carrier back plane or the new carrier back plane. It is critical that the back plane type is verified prior to
placing the upgrade order so that the right attribute selection can be made. If the type of carrier is not
known, then a visual inspection will be required of the Issue 5 (R7) or Issue 6 (R8) system. The old back
plane is being used if the visual inspection indicates that there is a TN794/TN2400 in the Network Control
and Packet Control Slots. If nothing is in the Packet Control Slot then the new back plane exists.

5.3 DEFINITY BCS Issue 3 ESCC Migration to BCS ESCC R9
DEFINITY BCS ESCC systems with a TN796B Processor (Intel 386) (with or without a CPP1 Expansion
Memory circuit pack) upgrading to DEFINITY BCS R9 ESCC require a new TN2404 Processor (RISC)
and a TN2401 NetPkt or a TN2401/TN2400 Network Control/Packet Control Assembly. The TN2404
supports new R9 systems and upgrades to R9 that require a new control carrier. The TN2401/TN2400
Assembly supports upgrades to R9 that reuse the existing control carrier.

5.4 DEFINITY BCS CMC to ESCC Upgrade
Currently the BCS offer does not support upgrades from one model (CMC) to another model (ESCC). In
this situation the business partner can either buy back the existing system from the end-user and a sell new
system or sell a new system to customer at which point it will the responsibility of the end-user to sell that
existing system.

5.5 DEFINITY BCS Issue 4 or 5 G3r Upgrades to BCS R9 G3r
BCS Issue 4 (R6r) and above upgrades to BCS R9 r require additional TN1650B Memory (32MB each)
circuit pack(s). Simplex upgrades require one additional TN1650B Memory while duplicated systems
require two additional TN1650B Memory circuit packs. Additionally, these upgrades require a UN332C
Media Drive Controller and TN2211 Optical Drive. Duplicated systems require two UN332C and two
TN2211. The existing TN1657 disk drive(s) needs to be vintage 9 or later. If it is less than vintage 9 then it
will need to be replaced at the customer‘s expense.

Note, New with BCS R9 an upgrade software PEC 6297-GR7 for G3r has been developed and will be
required with G3r upgrades.

5.6 DEFINITY BCS Issue 6 G3r Upgrades to BCS R9 G3r
DEFINITY BCS Issue 6 (R8r) require additional TN1650B Memory (32MB each) circuit pack when
upgrading to DEFINITY BCS R9r. The simplex upgrades require one additional TN1650B Memory circuit

involve the standard equipment certification process. Under no circumstances will Avaya warranty
coverage apply to any equipment not purchased directly from Avaya or an authorized business partner.

62532: ESCC EPN BUNDLE
Provides a SCC (Single Carrier Cabinet) EPN (Expansion Port Network) to be used with a DEFINITY
BCS/GuestWorks PPN (Primary Port Network). The bundle includes one expansion control cabinet; two
short range transceivers, two packet expansion interface circuit packs (TN570), and one multi-mode fiber
optic cable. One TN570 will be used in a universal slot of the PPN while the other will be used in the EPN.
The expansion control cabinet has a total of 17 universal slots; however, the TN570 board will use slot 1.

Prerequisite for the G3 ESCC BCS or GuestWorks System.
This PEC can not be used with a G3r BCS or GuestWorks System due to factory ordering requirements.

Note: This bundle includes the hardware required to collocate the EPN with the PPN. If the EPN will be at
another site that is within 4900 cable feet and connected
via multi-mode fiber, then an additional fiber cable (PEC 63300) will be required.
If two EPNs are required for the G3 ESCC then additional connectivity equipment will be required (two
TN570s/PEC 63335, two short-range transceivers/PEC 63297, and the appropriate quantity of fiber
cables/PEC 63300).

If Long Range Transceivers (PEC 63304) or single mode fiber are required for the port network
connectivity then does not use the EPN bundle. Instead use the DEFINITY ECS Configuration tool or refer
to the SDSC Connectivity Guide to determine the appropriate components required.

Note: This bundle does not include any I/O Cables (PEC 63190) or switch-room hardware. These items
must be ordered individually.

Note: The Excel Spreadsheets assume the EPN will be collocated with the PPN. It does not allow you to
designate which circuit packs and carriers should be placed in the PPN and which ones in the EPN for
scenarios where the port networks are not collocated. This will have to be done manually or in the
DEFINITY ECS Configuration tool.

SDSC BCS Support:
The first point of contact for a Avaya Authorized Dealer is a local Business Partner Area Manager (BPAM)
or a DDM Technical Manager. They should be the initial contact for support on the BCS Spreadsheet.
If the local Business Partner Area Manager or a DDM Technical Manager cannot be reached, the SDSC
Technical Assurance Group (TAG) will provide backup for technical questions. Design Assurance for the
spreadsheet is not provided.

There are BCS designs that are larger than the capability of the Excel BCS Spreadsheet or need G3R
functionality. For these designs, Avaya Authorized Dealers should contact their DDM Technical Manager.
These designs will be handled on a case by case basis.

If the design requires a G3R, the Avaya Authorized Dealer should create the G3V2 configuration and can
call SDSC for Technical Assurance. The SDSC will provide technical assurance for the G3R. Once the
TAG has system assured the ATTOMS design, the DDM Technical Manager will be able to make the
appropriate PEC substitutions to convert the design to a BCS server.

feet) and type of cable (B25A Male to Female or A25D Male to Male)
will be based on the attribute selected. The default attribute is LNH02
                           for 15 foot B25A cable.
The recommendation is to order one I/O Cable for each universal slot in
the system and one for the Auxiliary Connector on the Control Carrier.
That is, for the ESCC Control Carrier Cabinet a total of 17 cables (16
universal slots + 1 Aux. Connector) would be required. For a Port
Carrier Cabinet, 18 cables would be required.
If Teflon (Plenum) Cables are required then PEC 63192 should be used
instead of 63190. However, the spreadsheet does not presently contain
                           PEC 63192.
Note, these cables would not be required if using the Modular 110A
Hardware (PEC 63401) for a Compact Modular Cabinet (CMC) or the
                           110 X-Conn w/ I/O Cables (PEC 63858) for an ESCC or MCC.
63210 SWRM Sneak Fuse Provides protection for 25 pairs of Analog tip/ring lines and trunks. The
unit is used for off-premise lines and trunks and provides sneak current
protection between the network interface and the circuits when exposed
to extraneous power. The fuses also protect the circuit packs.
To determine the minimum number of units required, take the number of
2 wire trunks and off-premise lines and divide by 25 then round up.

pair connectorized distribution field. Each unit will terminate 12 25-pair
                           cables
To determine the minimum number of PEC 63216 required, take the
total number of universal slots in the system and divide by 12 then round
                           up.
This wallfield hardware would not be required if using the Modular
                           110A Hardware (PEC 63401) for a CMC or the 110 X-Conn w/ I/O
Cables (PEC 63858) for a ESCC or MCC.

63858 110 X-Conn w/ I/O This 110 AC Admin. Field I/O Cable Assembly provides an alternative
Cables to the 63216 wallfield and 63190 I/O Cable combination. It provides a
110AC1-300 PBX wallfield consisting of a single 300 pair
connectorized distribution field and 12 pre-terminated I/O cables that
exit out the bottom of the wallfield. This arrangement allows connection
directly from the wallfield to the PBX carrier connectors thereby
eliminating the need for separate I/O cables. All 12 pre-terminated
cables will be the same lengths. The length will be determined by the
LNH attribute associated with the PEC. The options are 12, 15, 18 or 21
                                   feet.
To determine the minimum number of PEC 63858 required, take the
total number of universal slots in the system and divide by 12 then round
                                   up.
This PEC should not be used with the CMC.

13. Attachment B – DEFINITY BCS Issue 3.0 Migration to Issue R9

                      USA/CANADA TRANSLATION MIGRATION
                  INSTRUCTIONS FOR GWS/BCS ISSUE 1,2, or 3 (G3V4)
                                TO GWS/BCS R9

CAUTION: The GWS/BCS 1,2,3 (G3V4) software CANNOT be directly upgraded to GWS/BCS R9
using the customer‘s 4 MB translation card. Incompatible internal data structures between G3V4 and R9
translations will result in corruption of the translation data when used with a G3V8 (TN790B) processor
board.

To successfully migrate a GWS/BCS Issue 1,2,3 switch to GWS/BCS R9 requires a choice of one of
the following two possible options. The choice must be made by weighing the cost of Option 1against
the cost of Option 2. Considerations for this choice will be based on size of the customer switch
(number of stations, trunks, etc.) and the turn-around time required. These notes address only the
migration of switch translations. The Avaya Distributor, Project Manager (PM), Account Executive
(AE), or Design Specialist (DS) must also submit an upgrade order for the appropriate hardware and
      RTU software PECs.

OPTION 1: Complete Retranslating the Customer Switch.

This option requires a switch (e.g. Distributor lab) which can be configured to closely emulate the
targeted customer machine. This means that if the customer machine has three carriers, the lab machine
must have three carriers in order to properly translate the ports, stations, etc. Also, at least one of each
port circuit pack that the customer switch will be using (i.e. TN791, TN747, TN2214, TN767,
TN2464, etc.) is needed. The control complex must look like the customer switch with the following
      exceptions:
      ESCC Switch
       GWS/BCS Issue 1,2,3 GWS/BCS Issue 4 GWS/BCS Issue 6.0 GWS/BCS R9
       TN768B – Processor TN790 TN790B TN2404
       TN777B – NETCON TN777B TN794 TN2401
        TN778 – PACCON TN778

DO NOT BUILD G3R6/R7/R8/R9 csi translations on a G3R6/R7/R8si/R9 machine!

To get the proper customer options and Special Applications features for the R9 switch, a special
US/Canada BCS or GWS default translation card MUST BE used when the lab switch is booted up.

US/ Canada CMC J58890TG-1 L100 (Comcode 108731829)

customer‘s G3V4 switch or using a G3V4 lab switch with the customer translation card for viewing only. If
the switch has ACD and/or BCMS activated on the GWS/BCS 1,2, or 3 load, these will have to be
reactivated on the R9 load. (This requires the use of the ―init‖ password).

OPTION 2: Avaya Translation Migration via T&M PEC

This option provides for a translation migration of the customer switch by Avaya technical personnel in the
Rapid Response/Special Applications Team in Denver, Colorado. To request this option, the Avaya
Distributor, Project Manager (PM), Account Executive (AE) or Design Specialist (DS) must file a 1041
form which is found on the web at http://info.dr.lucent.com/rapid_response. To assist in the determination
of charges to be assessed, the following information is needed:

The software load currently running on the switch.
1. The software load to be upgraded to.
2. Whether the switch is a GWS (hotel) or a BCS (business) application.
3. The number of circuit pack carriers in the targeted switch.
4. Whether the switch has a DEFINITY AUDIX voice mail system (BCS) or an INTUITY Lodging
    voice mail system (GWS).
5. The number, location and type of Announcement boards, if any.
6. What Property Management System (PMS) and/or Call Accounting System (CAS), is/are being used, if
    any.
7. The number of Hunt groups containing >20 members, if any.
8. Whether or not the upgraded R6 switch will be using a Packet Connector (TN778) circuit board.
(Conversion of the customer switch from PI to a PACCON operation must be handled by a local
    technical upgrade).
9. Are ACD and BCMS activated?

Once a willingness to pay has been determined, and a DOSS order has been submitted, the Rapid
Response/Special Application team in Denver will require the following items to be provided by the local
distributor, PM, AE or DS:
1. One 4 MB translation card containing the GWS/BCS translations from the customer switch.
2. One blank 8 MB translation card to save upgraded translations.
3. The IL number for the customer switch and an INADS dial-up number for the switch, if available.
4. A FAX copy of the customer configuration (list config all print) from the switch.

14. Attachment C – DEFINITY BCS (Offer B) Migration to DEFINITY ECS/
ProLogix (Offer A)

14.1 Configuration and Design Job Aid

Category B to A Migration Job Aid
DEFINITY BCS Offer Category B provides a path for customers to migrate from BCS Offer Category B to
ECS Offer Category A. Below are the steps that should be taken to configure ECS/ProLogix Offer
Category A:

 Migration from Offer B to offer A should be handled through the ATTOMS G3V2UPGD configurator.
 Use the G3V2UPGD configurator design a switch addition. At a minimum, screens 2, 3, 4, 5 & 7 will
be required. Be sure to request any optional software on screen 3 that is standard on Offer B.
 The DEFINITY BCS Software PEC 1272-BUP (software RTU migration PEC for ProLogix) or PEC
1272-BUE (software RTU migration PEC for DEFINITY ECS si) should be manually added.
 The following DEFINITY BCS R9 features will not carry forward. You must order the
appropriate ECS PEC for the optional features desired.
     Attendant Vectoring
     Basic Vectoring and Prompting
 Uniform Dial Plan software (si only)
     ISDN QSIG basic software
     Basic Call Management software
     Telecommuting software
 Centralized Voice mail via Inter-switch Mode Code software
 As a reminder, BCS does not currently support port size sensitivity used as in the DEFINITY ECS
Offer. When a customer migrates to Offer Category A, port size sensitivity will apply. Port RTU can
    be requested on screen 2.
 The Business Partner Care Center or TSC will handle activation of all PECs. For additional
information on PECs and features, refer to the DEFINITY ECS Product Definition.
 Questions or help on Offer B to Offer A configuration will be handled by the SDSC at 1-888-297-
    4700.

The fields in bold type are the minimum fields that need to be changed. The BCS switch should be the most
current sold. If not, the BCS switch will need to be upgraded before the migration can take place.

DEFINITY BCS supports four circuit packs that are unique to this offer. These circuit packs will need to
be replaced as follows:

 TN791 (16 port analog) - functionally equivalent to the TN746B (PEC 63136A)
 TN2793B (24 port analog) - functionally equivalent to the TN793 (PEC63933A)
 TN2214 (24 port digital) - functionally equivalent to the TN2224 (PEC 63869A)
 TN2464 (DS1 Trunk Interface) - functionally equivalent to the TN464 (PEC 63316A)

Dealers without ATTOMS access should contact their distributor.

Duplication does not affect the design process. Changes in duplication should be addressed after the
migration.

Refer to the BCS Product Definition for additional information on migrations.

Sample screens are shown on the following pages.

    14.2 Migration Process

US/CANADA MIGRATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR DEFINITY BCS (OFFER B)
TO MIGRATE to DEFINITY ECS (OFFER A)

The following instructions are being provided to indicate the migration process to be followed in
performing a software migration from DEFINITY BCS Offer B to DEFINITY ECS Offer A for both USA
& Canada switches. This distinction between Domestic and International switches is administered on the
‗system parameters customer-options‘ form beginning with the DEFINITY ECS R6.3.1 software release.
This is indicated by placing a ―1‖ on the ―Location?‖ field for a Domestic (USA/Canada) switch or a ―2‖
for an International switch.

Note: Migration from Offer B to Offer A can be performed only within a release. If upgrading to a newer
release, perform the standard upgrade first before migrating to Offer Category A.

US & Canada Switch Migration – The following steps are required on switches that
are running the BCS (Offer B) software release.

              1. If an R9 csi/si, replace the 4/8 MB translation memory card with a properly
formatted blank translation memory card to perform the migration to Offer A.
(Keep the original translation card as a backup). If an R9r, replace the tape
cartridge with a spare cartridge to perform the migration. (keep the original tape as
                   a backup.)

              2. Print a copy of all translations involving the Offer B circuit packs. This will be
needed to readminister the switch after removing the translations in step 3.

              3. Unadminister all stations, trunks, ports, etc. assigned to Offer B circuit packs (e.g.
TN791, TN2214, TN2464, TN2793, etc.). This may require removing bridged
appearances, AUDIX or INTUITY ports, hunt group members, etc.

              4. Replace the Offer B circuit packs (TN791, TN2214, and TN2464, TN2793) with
the corresponding DEFINITY ECS circuit packs (TN746B, TN2224, TN464F and
TN793). Verify that the new boards are displayed when the ―list config all‖
command is executed and the carrier assignments are displayed. If the boards are
not displayed, add them using the ―change circuit n‖ command.

              5. Review the features currently enabled on the ‗system-parameters customer-options‘
form and verify that the appropriate software RTU PECs have been purchased for
ALL features activated on the form as part of the migration to ECS Offer A.

              6. For the US, Contact the Avaya Business Partner Care Center to perform the steps
below. For Canada follow standard practices used for remote support.

                   A. Execute the ―change system-parameters offer‖ command and change Offer
Category: B to Offer Category: A on the form. Submit the form. (This command
will fail if the entire Offer B translations have not been removed from the circuit
packs.) (This command requires use of the ‗init‘ password.)

Use Pursuant to Company Instructions 83
DEFINITY® BCS R9 United States and Canada
Product Definition Indirect Channels
______________________________________________________________________

                  B. Execute the ―save translations‖ command to save the changes on the translation
flash card or the disk (if a G3r). If a G3r switch, also execute the ―save translations
                  tape‖ command.

                  C. When step B. has successfully completed, execute the ―reset system 3‖
command to load the switch with Offer A active.

                  D. Execute the ―change system-parameters customer-options‖ command and change
the ‗Maximum Ports:‘ to agree with the maximum number of ports purchased using
                  the port-sensitive pricing RTU PEC.

                  E. Activate any new features that have been purchased but were not active on the
‗system-parameters customer-options‘ form in step A. above. (This command
requires use of the ‗init‘ password.)

             7. F. If any changes have been made as a result of steps D. and E., execute the ―save
translations‖ command to save the changes. Using the records printed in step 2
above, readminister all ports, stations, trunks, Etc. that were removed in step 3
                  above.

             8. Verify that the ‗Location?‘ field on the ―system parameters customer-option‖ form
is set to a ―1‖ for a Domestic (USA/Canada) switch.

             9. Execute the ―save translations‖ command to preserve the changes just made. For a
G3r switch, execute the ―save translations tape‖ command.
