The Problem: The students, teachers and families of Volusia and Flagler County Schools are hurting. The recent economic downturn and budget shortfalls have resulted in local schools struggling to provide to teachers and students the tools they need. Many teachers turn to their personal budgets to help students obtain the supplies needed for a quality education. Helping Teachers and Students Succeed: The United Way of Volusia-Flagler has teamed up with local area schools to help teachers and students succeed. We are committed to helping students thrive because we know that a quality education is one of the building blocks of a better life. Education is the cornerstone of individual and community success. It’s essential to getting and keeping a job with a livable wage and health benefits.

How your organization or business can help!
A successful supply drive like this works best when we all work together. Have your business or organization be a drop-off location for supplies throughout the month of June. Encourage your employees and customers to bring in their donations before June 20th to your location. Then on the big day make arrangements to have the donated supplies dropped off at one of the buses. Volunteers will have the bus parked at one of the participating Walmarts in Daytona Beach, DeLand and Palm Coast on June 20th that will be set-up to accept donations. Buses will be available for drop-off from 9am – 2pm. Benefits of being a hosting location: • Show your support for Education by being a convenient drop-off location. • Your business/organization will be listed on our website as a drop-off location. Businesses that wish to participate but not be a drop-off location will be listed as a participating location on our website. • Use this as a great teambuilding project to help rally employees behind a worthy cause. Consider incentives for those who donate such as a “casual day” certificate or an hour of vacation time. You could also set a group goal and reward staff with lunch or an ice cream social if you meet the goal.
