       Ultrasonics Screens
These screens create a secondary, ultrasonic vibration that prevents
blinding on fine meshes. The homogenous sound distribution
inside and outside the resonator-ring causes an increase in the
       screening performance over the entire
surface of the ring. We can retrofit
screens of any size and design with
       ultrasonics, and the technology is
suitable for use in all vibratory
       screening machines.

        Advantages include:
       • Significantly improved screening
         performance
       • Consistent throughput and particle size distribution
       • Smaller mesh sizes offer equivalent of higher throughputs

                                                     • Higher capacity utilization and
                                                       improved separation effect.
                                                     • Eliminates the need for mechanical
cleaning while increasing the life of
                                                       the screen fabric.

                                         Flour Milling
We can supply square or round milling screens, designed for maximum throughput and efficiency,
for use in any separator or screener. Our material is woven to precise widths which eliminates the
possibility of fibers being lost in your product. Many companies use canvas material that is slit to
specified widths and frays, releasing fibers into the product.

Made of natural cotton webbing coated with heat activated adhesive, it’s a U-binded tape which is
heat sealed for optimum edge life. The bonded tape was developed specifically for food grade
applications and has been approved for indirect contact. It has also made a large impact in many
other industries. It is the most economical edge preparation and has an operating temperature of
up to 300º Fahrenheit. Sewing is available on request.

                                     Specialty Services
Seaming material is quickly becoming a standard practice and is primarily used when the width
required for an application exceeds the availability of stock rolls. In addition, seaming material is
a great economical alternative to committing to a weaver for specialty material.

Stove Pipe Seaming is primarily used for finer meshes and openings. The wire cloth is hemmed
in opposite directions, locked together and flattened. It is then spot-welded for added strength in
 tensioning environments.

                        Overlap Seaming is
                        primarily used for
                        coarser meshes and
                        openings. Wire cloth is
                        overlapped according
                        to your specifications,
                        then spot-welded.

                                     Urethane or Bond
                                     Seaming is primarily
                                     used in non-tensioning
                                     environments. It is used
                                     in sanitary and general
                                     purpose applications as
                                     well as belting.

   Advantages of rubber/steel rails:
   • You save on replacement costs because
the rubber protects your rails and makes
     them last longer.
   • Rubber rails virtually eliminates all head
     wear on the tension bolts
   • The rubber and steel is VULCANIZED,
not glued, so the rubber lasts til the
     very end

                                Urethane and Rubber Screens
Our urethane deck and modular urethane panels offer a combination of throughput and
wearability. These systems offer the combination of both tensionable and modular screens.
Frequent specification changes present no problem because this tensioning system can be
removed and replaced with standard wire screens.

                                  Setting the Industry Standard
These bonded and cured urethane screens are well suited for use in both mining and mineral
preparation. They perform well when subjected to both wet and dry conditions. Standard
    urethane thicknesses are 1/4”, 5/16”, 3/8” and 1/2”.

       NOTICE THESE BENEFITS
    # Will outlast wire cloth on an average of
      80% longer.
    # This water resistant material provides
        for excellent application in areas
        involving moisture.
    # The extended wear of the urethane
surface will reduce the total number of Tapered punching results in more efficient screening
        screen change-outs.
    # Ure-Clad screens can be manufactured with the openings in either straight or staggered
line configurations. Openings available are round, square, hexagonal or rectangular.
    # Hole tapering and precise punching provides prevention from blinding and increases
        screening efficiency.
    # No special sub-deck required! Our
        screens fit existing structures.
    # Available in a variety of chemistries and
        durometers.
    # Urethane for wet and dry applications. Unique bonding process insures the urethane will not peel
away from the steel as has been the previous problems with
                                                                    rubber and urethane bonding process.
    # Virtually no maintenance, Ure-Clad
screens will not stretch so re-tensioning is not required.
    # These Ure-Clad screens were especially designed for hard to screen and abrasive material.
The standard thickness on the bonded urethane is 1/4”, 3/8”, 1/2” and 3/4” on the
thickness on steel that best meets your specific requirements.

 Compass Wire Non-Blinding Screens are
 high quality, non-blinding screening
 surfaces.
 These screens provide accurate screening
and sizing where other products fail.
Custom manufactured in three basic styles,
these screens greatly reduce pegging and
blinding while still separating flakes and
 slivers from finished product.
                                                     A-Style
All types have extremely high percentages
of open area when compared to square
                                                   A-Style Screens
opening woven mesh, thus giving higher
production rates. Alternating straight and formed wires vibrate at
different speeds, cleaning the screening surface.
All products are available in Oil Tempered A-Style screens:
and Stainless Steel wire and can be hooked • Have a triangular shaped opening
with any edge style to fit all screening • Are resiliant to damage from over sized material
equipment, stationary or portable. • Are most accurate screen for sizing

                 B-Style and C-Style Screens
The wires in these screens vibrate independently of one
another. This vibration is what keeps the screen surface clean.

   B-Style C-Style

 B-Style Screens: C-Style Screens:
 • Have diamond shaped openings • Have a herringbone weave patttern
 • Accurately size dry or damp material • Prevent roots, grass, and other desbris from
 • Are also available in High Carbon Wire clogging the screening surface
                                                   • Are used where the gradation from raw to

        (a) These standard designations correspond to the values for test sieves apertures recommended by the International Standards Organization, Geneva, Switzerland.
        (b) These sieves are not in the fourth root of 2 Series, but they have been included because they are in common usage.
        (c) These numbers (3 1/2 to 400) are the approximate number of openings per linear inch but it is preferred that the sieve be identified by the standard
            designation in millimeters or mm.

                                          Wire Cloth Terminology
Calendered Wire Cloth - Wire cloth which has been passed through heavy rollers to reduce the thickness or flatten
the knuckles to produce a smooth surface.
Clear Opening (Also Space) - space between adjacent parallel wires.
Count (also Mesh) - the number of openings in a lineal inch
Crimp - Corrugations in wires to permit locking them in place when perpendicular to each other.
Double Crimp - Wire pre-crimped prior to weaving; warp and shute wires lay in each crimp.
Double Intermediate Crimp - Usually the warp wires lay in every crimp in the shute wires, and the shute wires lay
in every other crimp in the warp wires.
Gauge - Wire size. To avoid possible errors, specify wire diameter in decimal sizes rather than gauge numbers.
Market Grade - Wire cloth with a wire diameter that is normally woven and stocked for general purpose work.
Mesh - The number of openings in a lineal inch measured from the center of one wire to a point 1” distant.
Micron - 1/1000 millimeters; 0.00003937 inch; represented by the Greek letter “mu” (µ). It is the unit of measure for
particle retention of filter media.
Mill Grade - Especially suited for food processing applications such as flour milling and sifting, seed and feed
sifting, etc. The smooth, polished surfaces of these screens minimize the chances of clogging during operations.
Open Area - The ratio of the area of the open spaces between the wires to the total area of a piece of wire cloth,
expressed as a percentage. The formula for determing the percentage of open area for square weave wire cloth is:
                                                  2
Percent of open area = (size of opening X mesh) X 100
Opening - The space between adjacent parallel wires, usually expressed in decimal parts of an inch. The following
formula is used to determine the width of opening of square weave wire cloth: Width of opening = (1/mesh) - wire
diameter.
Particle Retention - The ability of a filter medium to prevent the passage of solids. The size particle that will be
retained by a given mesh is usually expressed in microns.
Pleating - A method of corrugating wire cloth, usually used to increase the filter surface area.
Selvage - A finished edge used to prevent fraying or unraveling of the wire cloth.
Shute Wires - Wire running across the width of the cloth as woven.
Sintering - A heat treating process which bonds the woven wires to prevent fraying. By the nature of the process,
sintering also anneals the wire cloth.
Square Mesh - Wire cloth with mesh count the same in both directions.
Steel Wire Cloth - Economical, high tensile strength and ductility Low carbon steel is used when there is low
chance of corrosion or low abrasive resistance. Where there is a higher chance of corrosion or very highly abrasive
material is being screened, high carbon or oil tempered wire cloth is recommended.
Warp Wires - The foundation wires, running the length of a wire cloth roll.
Welded Cloth - Warp and Shute wires lay flat (no crimp); welded at intersections.
Wire Cloth - A general term for material woven from finely drawn wire rather than thread. Available in Square or
Dutch Weaves, Plain or Twilled.

Alloys
Stainless Steel 300 Series
• Type 304 Stainless Steel - The most common of the 300 Series and most widely used in wire cloth. If no stainless
alloy is specified, Type 304 is acceptable. Contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel. Type 302 is basically the same
as Type 304 with higher carbon content.
• Type 316 Stainless Steel - The same content as Type 304 with the addition of 2% minimum of Molybdenum.
This addition allows for increased resistance to corrosion. It also provides increased strength at high
   temperatures.
• Types 304L and Type 316L - These types contain the same analyses as above with a lower carbon content which
   complements welding.
Stainless Steel 400 Series
• Type 410 Stainless Steel - The basic alloy of this group and is heat treatable and magnetic. Used where mild
corrosive conditions are present. It is a straight Chromium alloy without Nickel.
• Type 430 Stainless Steel - The most common of the 400 Series and most widely used in wire cloth. It is a straight
Chromium alloy without Nickel which allows a high degree of resistance to corrosion and oxidation. This alloy
is magnetic and is not heat treatable.
Other Alloys
• Nickel 200 - Used for certain food products and where corrosion resistance is high priority. It is also specified for
   high temperature applications.
• Monel Alloy 400 - A high Nickel Copper alloy and is used for corrosion resistant applications. It has the strength
of mild steel and will not corrode in many industrial applications.
• Hastalloy Alloy A, B, C - Used for severe conditions where either extreme heat or high corrosive conditions are
   present.
• Carpenter No. 20 - Not normally used for high temperature applications, but has a good corrosion resistance.
• High Carbon Steel - offers better response to heat treatment and has a longer service life than medium-carbon
steel. Typically has high abrasive resistance.
• Aluminum 5056 - Containing magnesium, manganese and chromium. Has good corrosion resistance as well as
excellent welding properties. It is not heat treatable but is strong and has high formability.
• Aluminum 6061 - This alloy has good corrosion resistance and excellent formability complemented by good
strength properties. It is a heat treatable and the most common type used in wire cloth.
• Copper - Widely used in wire cloth for many industrial applications due to its corrosion resistance, formability,
   strength and electrical conductivity.
• Common Bronze - A high copper alloy used where the corrosion resistance required is above the capability of
   brass.
• Phosphor Bronze - A high copper alloy which has proved to be very valuable in a wide range of filtering
problems. It is strong and maintains a superior resitance to fatigue.
Perforated Metals
• Gauge - A number associated with industry standard sheet metal thicknesses.
• Margins - Unperforated areas along the edges of the sheet or coil; are usually specified for handling purposes.
• Staggered Pattern - Holes in successive rows are staggered so that there is equal spacing between all holes.
• Straight Pattern - Holes are in straight rows in both directions.
• Thickness - The thickness of a particular gauge of sheet metal is a function of the gauge and the type of material,
and is usually specified in decimal parts of an inch. Note that the thickness of different metals with the same
   gauge may be different.
