PROJECT SCOPE STATEMENT Project Name: Date (MM/DD/YYYY): Aggie-Stay Website Upgrade 6/7/2009 Project Scope Statement Version Control Version 1 Date 6/7/2009 Author Umayal Palaniappan Change Description Document created Group #2 Palaniappan, Torres, Wilhelm, Burrow Project Scope Statement June 7, 2009 Version 1 Page 1 1. Project and Product Objectives The objective of this project is to update the website to incorporate online reservation for all Aggie-Stay locations and room types, as well as process credit card payments and manage the member reward points system. This website will also have an online help feature to assist customers in online reservations. Through its implementation, the system will solve Aggie-Stay’s phone congestion, miscommunication, and cost. The system would simplify the reservation process, method of redeeming reward points and provide quality customer assistance for users. 2. Project and Product Requirements    The response time of the website and time for pages to load should be less than 10 seconds Requires one web-server to host the site and one database server for content management Approval from CEO, project sponsor, senior executives and VP of the IT department during different stages 3. Project Boundaries 3.1 Project Scope Inclusions  This project upgrades hotel chain’s web site to incorporate online reservation system for rooms, conferences, and ballrooms. The user would be able to book rooms online which avoids the long-waits on the phone and the slow response. The system will handle credit card transactions and user reward points. The web site will also be able to handle cancelations and refunds based on the current hotel refund policy. Also, the pricing of the rooms in the web site would be made to differ depending on seasonal variation in prices. In addition, the website will also provide online help with reservations for the customers       3.2 Project Scope Exclusions The users will not be able to pick a particular room or a preferable floor online. The website will not integrate room availability information of all branches. So if a customer logs in to a branch in a particular location to book a room, the page would not show information about branches in the neighboring locations. 4.
