Note: although you will be filling support staff positions, English will still be a
fundamental part of your job and so you are encouraged to practice your speaking
and comprehension skills as best you can before arriving.
Uniform/Dress Code: Men will need to bring navy blue slacks (no denim), a plaid
button-down short sleeved shirt and leather tennis shoes/sneakers. The employer will
help you pick out a plaid, button-down shirt for around $20, if you do not have one.
Women should bring a plaid button-down shirt, white leather tennis shoes or nurses
shoes. Your shoes must be completely closed. A blue skirt will be provided for you
by the employer for a reasonable cost. Hair must be neat, a natural-looking color, and
pulled back if it is long. One pair of simple small earrings allowed for women. No
visible piercings for men. Attire, hygiene and appearance must be neat at all times.
Salary Per Hour: Dependent upon position. $3.00 starting rate per hour plus
gratuities
for tipped positions, $7.00 for non-tipped positions.
Bonuses: You might receive an ending bonus upon successful completion of your
work commitment. All positions except waiters may receive a $0.50 per hour worked
bonus.
Work Hours: You will usually be working 6-8 hours per day, 6 days per week
(about 35-40 hours per week at least). Please understand that hours increase as the
summer goes on and business picks up.
Accommodation Cost: $60
Accommodation Description: You will need to pay a $120 deposit when you arrive,
this will be given back to you if you complete your work commitment dates and if
housing is left in good condition. The types of accommodation will vary, but you
should expect to share a room with at least 1 other person. In general, there will be
private bathrooms for each room, 2 individual beds, sitting area, microwave and
refrigerator. Laundry facilities are located nearby. You will have a choice of paying
$3.50 per work day for your meals or a special rate per meal.

Description of Business: This forty-seven year old family run restaurant has a staff
of over 100 employees. The building, designed to reflect the lumberjack folk hero it
is named after, is made of hand hewn and hand laid local Norway and white pine. It is
full log construction in the Scandinavian style. The original building consisted of a
dining room seating 165 customers, a gift store, bakery and kitchen. In 1978 the
completion of an additional dining room and tavern, doubled the size and enabled
them to seat W I facilities are located nearby. You will have a choice of paying $3.50
per work day for your meals or a special rate per meal.
Description of Area: Wisconsin Dells is located in the beautiful vacation area of
southern Wisconsin. There are plenty of attractions and activities, including lake and
water sports, camping, a scenic natural environment, pubs and restaurants.

Recreation: $6.75 per hour (including $0.75 per hour bonus) Preparing and
implementing crafts/activities/games/tattoos to be provided to the
guest. Playing the role of the costumed characters (daily). Outgoing, energetic,
friendly, organized able to multitask. Work requires being able to run activities for
different age groups and various participation levels. Must like children and be
comfortable speaking in front of large groups. Will work inside and outside in all
weather elements.
All positions will include but is not limited to other duties such as reservation/front

Uniform/Dress Code: Please understand that you are expected to groom yourself in
accordance with accepted business standards, since your job involves dealing with
guests. Personal appearance should be a matter of concern for each employee. If you
arrive at work without your uniform, you may be asked to leave your work place until

purpose. We seek to present company employees with a conservative appearance for

Accommodation Description: Our Employees live in houses with 4-12 other people.
Rooms are usually shared with 4 people. All houses have a full bathroom, kitchen,
living room. All dishes and linens are provided. Most houses have free washer and
dryer. There is a 50 00 fee for phone and internet charged to all employees. This is
non-refundable and $50 is taken from the first paycheck. Housing is located about a
0.5 miles away from the campground. We offer free bicycles for our employees.
There is a $100 refundable deposit for housing, returned at the end of the
employment.

share a kitchen, bathroom and living area, but you will have your own bedroom. You
will have fully furnished living quarters with color TV with VCR. Your employer

library is about 3 miles away, Internet access is available there (as well as movies to
rent). There is no drinking and smoking in your housing. You are responsible for the
majority of your own meals but there will be many times when your employer will
provide meals.

There are no cooking facilities in your housing. Meals will available at the resort for
a fee. Students may bring their own sheets, blankets, pillows and towels or may use
resort items with a deposit. Smoking will not be permitted. You are required to pay a
$250 housing deposit. This deposit is refundable if your housing is left in good
condition and you work through your commitment date. This deposit will be
collected each pay period until you reach $250.

biking trails, exceptional hunting & fishing, and thousands of wooded acres for
hunting & exploring. Because this is a remote location, please bring all supplies that
you will need for personal use. Your employer recommends you bring international
phone cards, sunglasses, swimming suits, fishing equipment, stamps, stationary or
postcards, camera, music CD's, sufficient reading materials and unique snacks or
food items (international food is impossible to find up here).
Description of Area: This resort is a family-run resort located in the beautiful north
woods area of Wisconsin. The resort is located on Van Vliet Lake. It is surrounded by
beautiful Ottawa National Forest and State Northern Highland Forest. It is a
wonderful place to experience the outdoors and is a great destination for fishing and
hunting trips.
There are plenty of great hiking and biking trails and many outdoor activities to
enjoy.
There is no public transportation in the area but your employer takes trips to town
weekly and you can accompany them when time permits.

weeks you may only work about 20 hours a week, especially in the beginning of the
summer, however other weeks you will be working 60. So everything averages out to
40 hours/week.

room has a kitchenette with a 2 burner stove, dishes, a mini refrigerator, bath
facilities, 2 queen size beds, TV and telephone. A calling card must be used to make

will need to pay a housing deposit of $50. Room rent and the deposit will be taken
out of your payroll.

Description of Business: This resort is a premier outdoor activity resort located in
north western Wisconsin, close to Lake Superior. Its beautiful setting makes it a
popular spot for weddings and conventions.
***Having international staff is very important to the resort and to the surrounding
community. Within the three to four months of your stay, you and the other Work &
Travel USA students will be given one evening to put on a presentation to the local
community about your home country. You will be making a meal of your choice
from your country and you may give a speech or even bring an item to present. Since
