					                            MUSCULAR SYSTEM PROJECT

Objective: Complete the following tasks with a group of 4-6 students:
             a) Complete the muscular system packet.
             b) Create a 3D sliding filament model.
             c) Illustrate a life size diagram depicting the anterior and posterior muscles of
                the human body.
             d) Create a cumulative project describing the human muscular system.
                Formats may include, but are not limited to: PowerPoint presentation, Song,
                Skit, Poem, Game, Commercial, Product advertisement, Exam etc. ALL
                PROJECTS MUST BE
                PRE-APPROVED BY ME!

a) Complete the muscular system packet (50 points)DUE
FRI 2/4
       ALL group members must participate in completing
the muscular system packet. The submitted packet must be
neat and in order. Answers must be handwritten by each
group member.

b) Create a 3D sliding filament model (50 points)DUE TUES 2/8
       Read the handout on the sliding filament model of a muscle contraction. Create a 3D model
using various materials. All components must be labeled or a legend included. A one page typed
summary of the structure and function of a muscle contraction must be attached to the 3D model
and include ALL group members names.

c) Illustrate a life size diagram depicting the anterior and posterior muscles of the human body
(50 points) DUE FRI 2/11
        Each group will be given a 7 foot long piece of paper. You must trace or outline a body on the
front and back of the paper. Anterior superficial muscles will be illustrated on one side and
posterior superficial muscles on the other side. ALL muscles must be labeled and accurate. Each
group will be provided with a list of muscles which MUST be included in the diagrams.

d) Create a cumulative project describing the human muscular system (50 points) DUE FRI
2/18
        The cumulative project is expected to be completed using class time as well as time outside
of class. Each group may choose their own format for the project but ALL projects must be
approved by me first. The projects must depict or describe the human muscular system or a specific
structure or function of the system. BE CREATIVE! Final projects will be presented to the class.

e) Individual participation grade (25 points)
       Group members will complete a survey individually analyzing and grading fellow group
members on their effort and participation.
