atience. I have plenty of that, but Celia Garcia at Hal’s Landing
just like everyone else, I also
have my limits — especially after
having to wait hours for events to start.
    Two LULAC Council No. 12
events, the Señor Internacional and
Matinee Mexicano, had their share
of disappointments.
    One of the Señor Internacional
recipients, comedian Paul Rodriguez
did not make it to the event, but
Mexican comedian Carmen Salinas,
the other recipient, was there. She
saved the event from completely
falling apart.
On the other hand, the audience
at Matinee Mexicano, where
Mexican band Elefante was sched-
uled to perform, were not so lucky.
    Amado Chapa, LULAC No. 12
president, said the band arrived at
9:15 p.m. on the day of the event. The
band was willing to begin the concert
at 11 p.m., after a sound check, but Jamie Rodriguez, Paulina Vidales
Chapa said he believed it was too late. and Ivan Medellin at South Beach.
    “We were very disappointed,” was
the nicest thing a Laredo woman had
to say about having to wait two hours Sharon Huntington and Alison Kim at Eros.
for Elefante to make an appearance
at the Civic Center.
    I’m also disappointed after having
to wait three hours for two different
LULAC No. 12 press conferences to
start. Both times I left after an hour
and a half of waiting. I have no idea
how much longer others had to wait.
    Hopefully next year LULAC
members will be better organized.
    Actually, many of the members
work very hard and, fortunately,
LULAC’s Noche Mexicana event,
where Mexican singer “El Cuervo”
performed, was a success and nobody
had any complaints.
Chapa said there could be anoth-
er date for the Elefante concert, but
those who want a refund can contact
Frank Gonzalez at 235-4940.

Melissa Contreras and Mandi Barrera at South Beach.
        Javier Barroso,
Brenda Cortez and Gracie Perez at Eros.
