Mudpies and Lullabies Preschool Too Open New 5,500 Square
Foot Preschool in Anna, Texas
School breaks ground on new facility that will include 8 new educational classrooms, educate up
to 130 children and create 15 to 20 new jobs
When Danielle Dorman-Chapa recently took a student inventory in her Melissa school, she
realized that her last expansion in Melissa didn’t go far enough.
“Our school in Melissa is full again,” said Dorman-Chapa, owner and director of Mudpies and
Lullabies Creative Preschool in Melissa. “I realized we needed to expand again.”
Dorman-Chapa’s preschools penchant for quality educational programming has drawn families
from many cities in North Collin County. Not just Melissa.
“My first thought was to build a third building in Melissa,” Dorman-Chapa said. “We even had
renderings drawn for this and explored financing for a third building.”
Stepping back, Dorman-Chapa and her team realized they may need to venture outside of
Melissa instead.
“We have over 65 students from Anna alone,” Dorman-Chapa said. “It’s time for our school to
grow up a little by growing out.”
Plans for the third building in Melissa were put on hold. New renderings were created for a
brand new 5,500 square foot state-of-the-art educational facility in Anna. It will closely mirror
the newest building at the Melissa site.
“This plan helps out our Anna families and allows us to invest back into their community
through job creation and capital improvement,” Dorman-Chapa said. “I know how hard it is to
get kids out the door in the morning and adding a 15 minute commute to drop the kids off at their
school doesn’t help.”

“It will save us so much time in the morning since you (the new school) will be so close,” said
Melissa Allbritten, a current Anna parent of a Mudpies and Lullabies student. “The structure,
teachers, lessons and environment are not only educational but fun as well-we feel blessed to
have found you (Mudpies and Lullabies) and a Mudpies in Anna will be even better.”
The school will begin phase one construction with its 5,500 square foot facility with the ability to
expand in the future if need be. The school will be able to educate 130 students from age 6
months to 12 years. It will include the same benefits as the Melissa location which include
internet monitoring, biometric access systems for safety, multiple gross motor play areas, low
teacher to student ratios and a state recognized educational curriculum to name just a few. A
water park could be in the first phase but will probably be installed by summer 2013.
“My son went to Mudpies and Lullabies for one semester and learned more than he had at all his
other preschools combined,” said Annette San Martin, an Anna parent of a Mudpies and
Lullabies student. “Their education and structure is above all other schools in the area.”
“I would love to not have to drive to Melissa and to support Anna’s local economy,” San Martin
said.
Dorman-Chapa is hoping to create 15 to 20 new jobs. Her Melissa school is one of Melissa’s
largest employers.
“We are excited to hear the plans for Mudpies to open an additional location in Anna because we
actually live in Anna,” said Cain Maxwell, an Anna parent of a Mudpies and Lullabies student.
“Bringing Mudpies to Anna will give people more choices when it comes to providing great
daycare to the kids in our city, as well as keeping business local.”
Plans are for the school to be open in August 2011.
