Tables Powered By Docstoc
					   Tables – Centering, Change Column Width, Borders/Shading, &
                              Sorting
Centering
     •   Should be centered horizontally & vertically
     •   Horizontally
         •   Select entire table
             •   Four arrow box in upper left corner
         •   Centering button on toolbar
     •   Vertically
         •   File – Page Setup
         •   Layout tab
         •   Vertical Alignment
         •   Change to Center
Change Column Width
     •   If you have a table where you want the columns to be a specific width
     •   Select column
     •   Go to Table on menu bar
     •   Properties
     •   Column tab (should automatically be selected)
         •   Preferred width
             •   Change to desired width
         •   If you have more than 1 column to change
             •   Click Next Column
     •   This method only works if you have no merged or split cells
     •   If you have split or merged cells
         •   Click Cell tab instead of Column tab
         •   Preferred width
             •   Change to desired width
Borders/Shading
    •    Add or Change the border style or size
    •    Select cell(s)
    •    Format
    •    Borders/Shading
    •    Borders Tab
    •    Choose Style, Color, Width
    •    On right hand side select where you want the border to go
    •    You can do a combination
    •    Select cell(s)
    •    Format
    •    Borders/Shading
    •    Shading tab
         •   Choose fill color or leave no fill to have gray shading
         •   Choose pattern or amount of shade
         •   Choose pattern color
         •   OK
Shadow
    •    Draw a box the same size as table
    •    Draw
                                             •   Or
    •    Right-click
    •    Order
    •    Send behind text
    •    Choose shadow settings by the icon on the drawing toolbar
Sorting
     •    Select part of table you want to sort (not the heading or title of table)
     •    Table
     •    Sort
          •   Sort by – select the column you want to sort by
          •   Choose Ascending or Descending
          •   If you want to sort by more than 1 column
              •   Then by
                  •   Choose the second column to sort by
                  •   Choose Ascending or Descending
Formatting
     •    When it refers to formatting for currency
          •   Add dollar sign and two decimal places
Assignment:
     •    Page 504 – Table 2 & 4
     •    Page 507 – Table 2 – Print
     •    527 – Table 3 – Print
     •    505 – Table 8 - Print
          •   Add shadow border
          •   Add shading – you decide
          •   Add a least 2 different line borders
          •   .9 columns except salary columns (1”)
          •   Percent Increase = ((New. S – Pre. S.)/Pre. S.)*100
          •   Sort by % increase then 2.5% Raise
