Guidelines for screeninGs

neW in 2011
1. The Marché increases the number of its digital rooms: in 2011 there are 14 rooms equipped with digital cinema where you will be able to screen
your DCP in 2D and 3D.
2. A 5th video room in the Gray d’Albion at a very special price: in addition to the four rooms of the Gray d’Albion we are now offering a small video
room at a unique price, starting from 315 € (before VAT) for Market exhibitors.
3. save the VAT on your screenings: since 1st January foreign companies benefit from the new European regulations that allow us to invoice your
screenings without taxes.
4. online catch-up screening: after their screening at the Marché, your new films will enjoy an additional visibility thanks to the Online Screening
Room on cinando.com. Early June a sales campaign will urge buyers to discover on Cinando the films that they were unable to see in Cannes.

2K diGiTAl cineMA projecTions
In 2011, the Marché du Film and XDC equip new screening rooms in 2K Digital Cinema: Palais I, J and K on the 4th floor of the Palais as well as Riviera 1, Lérins
1 and Lérins 2 in the Riviera. Eight other rooms in the cinemas in Cannes are also equipped to screen digitally: Arcades 1, 2 and 3, Star 1, 2 and 3, Olympia 1
and 5.

This forMAT offers seVerAl AdVAnTAGes :
- The quality of the projection (no scratches or wear of the reel)
- No issues during reel changes
- The advantages of the hard disk on which different versions and subtitles can be loaded.
- Content security (encryption)
- When a print cannot be ready in time, a 2K D-Cinema screening is the best solution as far as quality and profitability are concerned.

As Official Technical Partner of the Marché du Film, XDC charges a very special rate of € 1 500 (before VAT) for a Digital Cinema JPEG2000 encoding (for 2D
movies). This rate is only applicable if all the deliverables (subtitles, picture and sound) are delivered by friday, 29 April 2011 at the latest. Otherwise XDC will
charge you for the price indicated on their price list. Obviously we highly recommend shipping deliverables as soon as they are ready, preferably before this
deadline since there are many movies to be processed at the same time.

This flat fee of € 1 500 (plus VAT) includes conformation, encoding, encryption and quality checks for one language and subtitle version. The digital print is
generated at XDC’s expenses and will be recycled after the Festival. An encrypted backup is kept at XDC in case of digital release. Additional costs out of the
usual workflow are not included.

Source material to be submitted to XDC for D-Cinema encoding:

- Picture Files: HD or 2K files or file sequences: TIFF, DPX, BMP, ProRes…
- HD Master: Sony HDCAM-SR, HDCAM or Panasonic HD-D5
- Sound: 6 channel mix, mono or stereo soundtrack on tape or in files (WAV, AIF)
- Subtitles: burnt-in the picture, STL-EBU file, SRT file, general timecoded text file, Cinecanvas™ XML…
XDC will send a detailed technical specifications’ document upon request. You will find more information about the company at www.xdcinema.com.

3d screeninGs
XpanD, an official technical partner of the Marché du Film, equips six Marché screening rooms with its 3D solution : Palais I, J and K as well as Riviera 1
Lérins 1 and 2. XpanD which was created by industry veterans in theatrical exhibition, film production and distribution is now a global leader in active 3D
technology.
The active glasses work on a system of alternative shutter of each eye with therefore no alteration in the image due to a filter or any polarization.
XpanD 3D technology allows 3D screenings on a regular matte white screen which guarantees perfect light uniformity and optimal brightness without any
colour distortion.

An additional fee of 100 € (before VAT) per screening will be charged for 3D glasses in the Palais and Riviera rooms. This additional fee will be equal to
150 € (before VAT) in Arcades 3 and Star 3 and 200 € (before VAT) in Arcades 1 and 2, Star 1 and 2, Olympia 1 and 5.

Access To rooMs And inforMATion
In order of priority the access to Marché du Film screening rooms is reserved to the following :
1 - Those who have a Marché du Film badge with a mauve stripe
2 - Those who have another type of Marché du Film badge
3 - Those who have an invitation issued by the Marché du Film: the Screenings Department issues invitations and gives them in Cannes to the company
representing the film. No other invitation is accepted.
4 - Journalists registered with the Festival de Cannes
People with a transferable badge or a temporary badge as well as people with a Festival badge cannot attend the Marché screening rooms. They cannot
enter the rooms without an invitation issued by the Marché.

It is possible to limit the access to screenings by informing the Marché on friday, 22 April 2011 at the latest. In this case, the screening can be listed as:
  • “By invitation only” (invitations must be requested in advance from the Screenings Department and are collected in Cannes)
  • “No press”
  • Or the screening can be totally private: it is not listed in the Pocket or the Daily and not forwarded to the press

The Screenings Department immediately forwards any changes in schedule (such as title, screening room, screening time…) to the trades in Cannes.
However we cannot guarantee that these changes will be included in the daily editions of all trades due to the time needed to print.

Checks at the entrance to screening rooms are carried out by Marché du Film personnel, responsible for applying both the priority access and security
rules established by the Marché. All companies having reserved screenings are required to respect these rules and are, in no case whatsoever, allowed to
intervene when spectators are being filtered at the entrance to rooms.

lisT of people ATTendinG screeninGs
Marché du Film personnel scans the badges at the entrance of the Marché rooms which enables individual lists to be drawn up of all those attending
screenings. These lists, which include the name of the company and their details in Cannes, are available a few hours after the end of the screening on
www.marchedufilm.com. However, the Marché du Film cannot be held responsible in the case where a list is not available or is incomplete and the sales
company cannot request compensation.

TerMs of cAncellATion

diGiTAl And Video MATeriAl
- Digital prints must be exclusively received on portable hard disks in jpeG 2000 format. The DCP needs to have an external power supply and the 2.5” self
powered disks are totally forbidden. The removable storage memory (such as USB keys) with file system Fat 32 must not exceed 4 Go.In Cannes the CST
has a service to create specific KDM for the sales or production companies in case they would need it.

- The DCP must be received at the latest 48 hours before the first screening. The decryption key (KdM) must be operative as soon as the dcp is received
and must remain so until the end of the last screening.
In the case where a DCP is received less than 48 hours before the first screening or the KDM cannot be opened 48 hours in advance, the Marché du Film
cannot guarantee the screening and this without the company being able to claim any refunding. If a technical problem occurs due to the DCP’s late
delivery or a KDM problem, the Marché du Film reserves the right to cancel the screening if it might prevent the following screening from starting on time.
However the screening will still be due in full. This rule also applies when the DCP is delivered digitally (Smartjog…).

- The DCP must be sent in appropriate packaging to avoid any damage of the disk. In the case where a DCP is sent in a packaging that is not secure enough,
the company that has reserved the screening is answerable to the Marché du Film for all possible deterioration of the material and the Marché might
request the company to sign a letter of discharge.

- The Marché du Film makes a quality check of the tapes (HDCam, Digibeta and Beta SP) and DVDs and their colour grading and timing. In order to be able
to carry this check out, the material must be delivered to the Marché Stock Films at the latest 48 hours before the first screening. In the case where the
material is delivered less than 48 hours before the first screening, the Marché du Film cannot guarantee the screening and this without the company being
able to claim any refunding.

- Only DVDs made by a laboratory are accepted; DVDs burnt on a computer risk creating problems during the screening. As rooms only have one video
deck, we recommend that you provide a single tape, from 90 to 120 minutes according to the length of the film, so as to avoid a break in the middle of the
screening.

- DVD’s, tapes and hard disks may be delivered directly to the stock films from Wednesday 4 May on. The material can be collected from the Stock the
day after the last screening and at the latest by sunday 22 May. After this date, the material will be given to our transport agent, FILMAIR SERVICES, who
will send it back upon request or else destroy it after 120 days.
