					JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS 2008 ROSTER

I'm keeping this updated roster and cap estimate somewhere on the board at all times. Return to
this post (if it's buried, just search for a lesser known player) anytime you want to see what the
latest roster and salary cap figure looks like, as I edit it often.

To conclude the season with Calvin Lowry and Jordan Black having just signed, the Jaguars
break even with their $128.65 mil adjusted cap after using Jeremy Mincey to carry over $6.3 mil
onto the ’09 cap. The league salary cap is $116.73 mil, but the league added $11.92 mil to the
Jaguars cap when adjusting for 2007 incentives results.

In late December with the team waiving Reyes and Spencer, placing McDaniel, Porter and D.
Smith on IR, signing Lowry, Stephenson and Black, and activating Hughes, Rodgers and P.
Smith from the P.S., the Jaguars roster consists of 53 signed players, 7 players on their Practice
Squad and 15 players on IR. In early December the Jaguars placed Mathis, Nkang, G. Jones and
Taylor on IR, signed Cox, Ellison and Pearman and activated Bruce from the P.S. as Matt Jones
was suspended for the last three games. November saw the Jaguars waive M. Brown, Kennedy
and Lowe before placing Podlesh on IR, activating Mincey and Wrighster from PUP, and signing
Weatherford and Shaw. In late October, the Jaguars waived Gardner, placed Naeole on IR, ,
activated Nkang from PUP and activated Drew Miller from the P.S. In early October the Jaguars
re-activated Gardner and waived. Week four saw the team sign Omare Lowe, place Starks on IR
and waive T. Myles from IR. In week three, Naeole signed and Woods was waived. Following
their first game, Brown and Todd Wade were signed with Woods being activated from the P.S. as
Gardner was waived with Manuwai and Mo Williams being moved to their IR list. Heading into
week one the Jaguars waived Brent Hawkins and activated Isaiah Gardner from the Practice
Squad days before placing Collier on their NFI List while signing Charles Spencer. The team
waived Fudge and Signed Will James the day before the last round of cuts which saw them place
J. Lewis on IR, place Mincey and Nkang on PUP, and waive Bouman, Brown, Bruce, Carnahan,
Davis, Fason, Gardner, Gilbert, Grant, Hoag, Mahelona, McMahon, Miller, Moulton, Myles,
Pettway, Schobel, Trae William and Woods. Going into their final Preseason Game, D. Harvey
signed as Wrighster was placed on PUP. The Jaguars signed Fason and waived Liwienski the
day after waiving Broussard, Smolko, J. Harvey, Edwards and Boston in the first cut-down. Two
weeks into camp, the team re-signed Smolko and McMahon, signed Liwienski, Mahelona,
Schobel and J. Lewis, and placed Wyche, Cotrone and Horrocks on IR after clearing waivers
from being waived/injured. Tywain Myles also signed, but he was placed on IR the same day. As
training camp began, the Jaguars signed Groves, Jordan, Hoag and Bruce, and waived
McMahon and Bishop. In mid-July, the Jaguars signed Washington and Trae and Thomas
Williams about a month after they waived Brian Smith, Smolko, Thorpe, Goode and Gibbons.
Thorpe signed after Richards (another UDFA rookie) was signed and released, and then a week
later Giles signed as D.D. Terry was let go. The Jaguars concluded April with 5 draft picks
(Harvey, Groves, Th. Williams, T. Williams and Washington) chosen and 13 UDFA rookies signed
(Bishop, Boston, Brown, Cotrone, Edwards, Gardner, Grant, J. Harvey, Horrocks, Miller, Myles,
P. Smith, Witherspoon) along with Prioleau as Ricard was released. Just prior to the draft,
Sensabaugh signed his tender as LaMont Thompson was released. The end of March saw
Estandia, Fudge, Mincey and Wyche resign as Pudewell was released. By mid-March, Mo
Williams, Goode and M. Owens re-signed with the team as Sharon was released. In the opening
week of free agency, the Jaguars acquired Troy Williamson for a conditional 6th, signed Lemon,
Porter, Florence and Kennedy, traded Stroud and released Naeole. In late February, the Jaguars
re-signed Greg Jones, Angulo, Pettway, Bouman and Reyes. The offseason began with the
signing of Pete McMahon along with seven former Practice Squad players: Carnahan, Davis,
Gibbons, Moulton, Ricard, D.D. Terry, and Woods.

Position designations are being updated according to Preseason line-ups. The notation "R"
simply means that the player is either a draft pick or is earning the rookie minimum salary…

Compensatory Draft Pick Consideration

The basic formula for determining how many compensatory draft picks the NFL gives each team
is to take the amount of "UFA's lost" (on another team's roster) and then subtract the amount of
"UFA's gained," although the formula is highly dependent on contract values and factors in
playing time and postseason honors.

Looking at this year’s draft, in ’07 the Jaguars gained Pashos and Northcutt while having lost
Brady and Grant. This looks like a wash with the Jaguars getting no comp picks.

Looking at ‘09, the Jaguars will probably get some comp picks simply because they’ve lost so
many unrestricted free agents.
