STARS Volunteers Rock!
STARS new by Cathryn Lyon
When I reflect on Peter’s experience in Boys’ Brigade at College
Administrative Church, I smile and think of Bob Lefley. Bob has been Peter’s STARS
volunteer buddy and friend at Boys’ Brigade this past year. What a
wonderful year it has been!
Assistant Soon after Bob Lefley entered our lives as a STARS volunteer, he
began making an impact. In a “Getting to Know Peter” summary
Ashley Korol that Bob wrote for the adult team members of Boys’ Brigade, he
outlined some of Peter’s abilities and disabilities, and cast a faith-
filled vision of what it might look like to have Peter participate
in Boys’ Brigade. He explained how the team members could
approach Peter in a comfortable, natural way. We saw the results
of Bob’s efforts as we observed the positive way the Boys’ Brigade
team related to Peter.
Each week, Bob faithfully showed up at Boys’ Brigade, helping Peter to have a blast by dodging
balls, working on a pinewood derby car and hanging out with other boys as they learned
