WORK PROFILE OF AN ALLIED EDUCATOR (COUNSELLING) Role of an Allied Educator (counselling) The Allied Educator (Counselling)[AED(Counselling)] works closely with the school management in planning and implementing a school-wide counselling system, providing direct counselling intervention to at-risk students and case consultations to school personnel and parents and training teachers and parents on counselling- related issues. The AED(Counselling) will also identify, devise and deliver specialised group guidance programmes for at-risk pupils who need additional help in the area of social and emotional development, as evidenced by social, emotional and behavioural concerns presented by these pupils. Work Profile System Support 1. Set up a suitable counselling service in school, in consultation with school management 2. Develop strategies for early identification of pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties for early intervention 3. Devise and implement effective referral system for helping pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties 4. Establish network with other professional agencies and relevant social service agencies with a view to easing referrals and accessing specialist consultants 5. Oversee the effective implementation of the school counselling programme 6. Develop evaluation strategies and instruments to assess the school counselling programme 7.
