Premier League; This week the North West A team were at home to AOH. B and currently lie in
second place with two matches in hand. Pat Bonnar was first up against Martin Mooney and Pat
was in great form as he hit a break’s of 46 and 36 to take the first frame. Pat also played well in the
second frame and took it with relative ease. Brian Mc Aleer was the next on the green baize
against Sean Ferry. Brian had a 46 break in the first and took the two frames to leave the team four
frames up. Anthony Bonnar then came to the table and also took the two frames against Kevin
Kelly to leave a clean sweep for the North west A team. .
The North West B team had a bye this week..

COACHING; Junior coaching is on from 5.30 to 7.30 every Friday. The coaching is for all
players between the age of 10 and 18 years. There is no need to have any previous snooker skills
as we will start everyone with the very basics. The coaching will be free for the month of
November and is being organised by NCTC Coach John Doherty. If you have any enquiries you can

The North West Snooker club is open to the public from 11am to 12 midnight, 7 days a week. We
are situated on the Port Road behind the Movie Bank where there is lots of free parking for our
customers. There is a large stock of new snooker and pool cues in our new display area, also
available is a large selection of cue cases and all snooker and pool accessories, at very keen prices.
As well as 10 championship snooker tables we also have 4 competition American Pool tables and 4
English Pool tables. There is also an internet café where you can catch up on your e-mail’s or just
browse the internet. Also for the younger kids we have some amusement games. If you have any

                   DONEGAL SNOOKER LEAGUE

Last Sunday the Donegal Snooker League ran it’s third Ranking Points Tournament of the 2008/09
season. There was an entry of 27 ranging from the very experienced Chris Gibbons to the youngest
player 10 year old Evan Bonnar. This is a handicapped tournament and handicaps are adjusted after
each tournament.
The top 5 seeds moved into the first round proper and the line-up after the preliminary’s was
Brian Mc Aleer (Handicap -9) defeated a dark horse of the tournament Paul Gallagher (0) who is
five times Donegal champion. Paul Mc Ginley (15) defeated twin town’s cueist Ciaran Campbell
(15). Number 5 seed Pat Bonnar (-2) defeated the hot young player Garath Boyle (10) 2/0. Number
4 seed Gerry Mc Keever (6) defeated ten year old Christopher Duffy (45) 2/0.
In the bottom half of the draw number 3 seed Paul Doherty (-2) was defeated by The Terminator
Gerard Duffy (5) 2/1.Garath Kerwin progressed to the quarter finals with a good win over No6 seed
John Whyte 2/1. Chris Gibbons defeated Paul Thomas from Donegal town 2/0 and the last match
saw no2 seed Anthony defeat the returning Simon Connolly 2/1 to complete the line up for the
quarter final’s.
In the quarter finals no1 seed Brian Mc Aleer bowed out to a very steady Paul Mc Ginley as Paul
took the match 3/0. Club mates Pat Bonnar and Gerry Mc Keever clashed in the next match with
Pat coming out on top with a 3/0 victory. In the bottom half of the draw two non seeded players
Gerard Duffy and Garath Kerwin met with Garath (CYMS) taking the spoils with a 3/0 victory.
The last match which involved the No2 seed Anthony Bonnar and No7 seed Chris Gibbons went
against the seeding’s with Gibbons taking the points 3/0.

In the first semi final Paul Mc Ginley narrowly missed out in a very tight match which went all the
way to the wire as Bonnar won 3/2. the second semi final also went to the wire as Chris Gibbons
took his place in the final 3/2 over Garath Kerwin.

The eagerly awaited final lived up to expectations as the first four frames are shared and it became a
one frame final. Bonnar got off to a good start with a 34 brake followed by a 24 brake, Gibbons
could not claw his way back and the frame went to Pat Bonnar. This was Pat’s first win in this
years new points tournament format, and moves Pat up to second place after Brian Mc Aleer.
