New record set at Sea Isle City's Junior Olympics

SEA ISLE CITY - During the 2008 Junior Olympics competition in Sea Isle City on July 4th, a
record number of youngsters participated in this popular athletic event. In 2007, 531 children
competed in the annual races at Dealy Field; this year 725 children participated. Fortunately,
there were 114 volunteers from the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City on hand to ensure that the day
ran smoothly.

A popular event for decades, the Sea Isle City Junior Olympics program always attracts a large
crowd of children eager to enjoy a morning of friendly athletic competition. During the event,
children competed in the running dash, distance throw and broad jump, and at the end of the
Olympics, winners in each event were called onstage to stand on a three-tiered victory platform.

The 2008 winners of the Girls Broad Jump were (age 3) Karli Henderson, 1st ; Sophia
Bartolome, 2nd; and Kayla Klaus, 3rd; (age 4) Aydan Fromhartz, 1st place; Delaney Farkas,
2nd; and Haley Levy, 3rd; (age 5) Gabrielle Arra, 1st; Allie Bush, 2nd; and Amber Morrison, 3rd;

"It was a terrific event," said J.B. Flora, event coordinator from the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City.
"We were very excited that such a large number of children were able to participate."

During the Annual Junior Olympics program held in Sea Isle City each July 4th, children compete in
running, jumping and throwing competitions. This year, 725 youngsters participated in the events,

The distance throw brought out the athlete in all of the children who participated in the 2008 Junior
Olympics in Sea Isle City on July 4th. During the games, which are sponsored by the city's Department
of Community Services, 114 volunteers from the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City judged the competitions and
directed the 725 children who participated.




The standing broad jump was just one of the fun athletic events enjoyed by children during the Annual
Sea Isle City Junior Olympics program. This year, the city "jumped" to a new record level of participants
then 725 children arrived at Dealy Field for the games on July 4th
.




The thrill of victory was a sweet reward for the children who won gold, silver and bronze medals during
the 2008 Junior Olympics in Sea Isle City. Shown during their moment of glory are three winners
standing on the victory platform next to Yacht Club of Sea Isle City Commodore Ed Myers, who along
with 113 other yacht club volunteers, helped run the event and direct the 725 children who participated.

young athletes who competed in running, throwing and jumping events. Also shown are Yacht Club of
