The Masters in Human Resource Management offered through UCCI’s Executive Training Centre is a new
graduate programme that enhances the skills of current and aspiring HR Professionals and is designed as
a fully accredited Masters in Human Resources. UCCI has collaborated with the Cayman Islands Society
of Human Resource Professionals (CISHRP) to tailor the offering to suit those working in the Cayman
Islands market and also to meet the requirements of international workplaces.

The first part of the programme makes use of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)
Learning System, which is competency based training in six HR areas that prepare the student for the
certification as either a Professional of Human Resources (PHR®) or a Senior Professionals of Human
Resources (SPHR®) depending on their area(s) of focus.

The second part of the program will consist of two to three day workshops facilitated by the American
Management Association. Successful completion of three workshops will earn the student a Certificate
of Excellence from the AMA.

A modular programme, the flexible curriculum also offers the opportunity for students to study portions
à la carte in order to achieve specific expertise and knowledge. Alternatively the stand alone sections
can be combined with an academic and project component to obtain a full Master’s degree in Human
Resource Management.

       Stage I (2 months)

The first stage consists of approximately 36 hours of contact time. Classes are held in the
Executive Training Centre on the UCCI campus (upstairs above the Learning Resource Centre).
Consistent with the SHRM Learning System, students will be trained in six learning modules:

           1. Strategic Management
           2. Workplace Planning and Employment
           3. Human Resource Development
           4. Total Rewards
           5. Employment and Labor Relations
           6. Risk Management
At the end of the first stage, students will have received training to take either the Professional
of Human Resources (PHR®) Exam* or the Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR®)
Exam*. Students must successfully pass their exam in order to obtain the certification. The
certification is issued by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) in the US.

*PHR certification focuses on technical and operational aspects of HR
*SPHR certification focuses on strategic HR and policy issues

Stage II (2-3 months)

UCCI, in partnership with the American Management Association (AMA) offers qualifying
seminars towards the AMA Certificate of Excellence. Students will be required to complete four
