   To register for a particular class, please call the Academy Registrar at (210) 335-6229 or email at training@bexar.org .
    Students interested in registering for classes at the Academy may do so in person or call by phone with the following
                                                           information:

                                              For Bexar County personnel:
                                                         Name
                                  Social Security Number and TCLEOSE PID Number
                                                 Time Off authorization


   Peace Officer Field Training students must present a copy of their Peace Officer license and their time off slip prior to
                                                         registering

                       Effective Monday, March 16, 2009
     All training classes will start on a Monday thru Friday schedule from
                                    07:45 to 4:30


                                       *****Special Notices to all Students*****
 Due to scheduling and other unforeseen circumstances, make sure that you call the Academy Registrar prior to reporting to
                               your class for any unforeseen class changes or cancellations.

   Effective September 1, 2005, Special Investigative Topics, Cultural Diversity, and Crisis Intervention Training are now
                                         mandated for your Peace Officer License.

Any individual on light duty cannot attend any tactics, firearms, OC, ASP, or any type of class which includes any type
                               of physical exertion to include firearms requalifications.

Law Enforcement Patrol Rifle Course TCLEOSE #3322
This course is for the law enforcement officer who desires to carry their M4/M16 style rifle while on duty. This course is a 40-
hour block on instruction which covers the basics. Students must pass a written test @ 90% and a 50-round qualification
course or fire @ 90%. Once the student has successfully completed the 4-day course, the student will then fill out a form AR
105 requesting to carry their personally owned rifle on duty. Once approved, the requesting officer will receive 60 rounds of
duty ammunition.

*****Note*****students enrolled in this class must have the following equipment for class:
AR-15/M-16 Rifle (.223/5.56 cal) with barrel length no shorter than 16.1 inches and no longer than 20 inches (The rifle has to
come from a reputable manufacturer). Rifle sling, three rifle magazines, lockable rifle case, 800 rounds of training ammo (no
reloads), eye protection (polycarbonate or plastic), hearing protection (muff style), 200 rounds of pistol ammunition for your
duty weapon (no reloads), weapons mounted light an or small hand held flashlight for both weapons, elbow and knee pads,
duty gear, duty weapon (Glock model 22), water, food, clothing to accommodate weather, body armor, bug repellant, sun
screen, note-taking materials, weapons cleaning kit.
NOTE: NO AMMUNITION WILL BE PROVIDED BY THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE TRAINING ACADEMY OR THE
SHERIFF’S OFFICE FIREARMS TRAINING UNIT, ALL AMMUNITION WILL BE PROVIDED BY THE
STUDENT.

The following dates for this quarter have been reserved for personnel requesting to challenge the Intermediate Spanish course.
Testing will be conducted on a walk in basis between the hours from 7:45-4:30 pm on those particular dates.      Or if you wish
to reserve a time, please call to reserve a specific date and time.

reserve a date and time.

        All range qualifications are held at Camp Bullis Range from 0900 to 1430.
  Last line of fire is at 1430 hours. These dates are subject to change. Please contact the
 Academy prior to going to the range, for any unforeseen changes in these scheduled dates

     Follow the road to the ID gate, continue straight and turn right at the base flagpole.
Follow the same road straight in and then take a right on Wilderness Trail. The ranges will be
                             to your left, look for the BCSO van.

                           Training Guidelines for Outside Agencies

Any Peace Officer or Detention Officer from an outside agency wishing to attend
 training or “in-house” classes at the BCSO Training Academy must follow the
                                below guidelines:

       They must be a licensed Peace Officer or Detention Officer currently
                        employed by a law enforcement agency
                                         
       Outside Agency Officers must submit a written request to attend each
       class (2) two weeks prior to the course date. The written request must be
          submitted to Chief Deputy Rolando Tafolla, 200 N. Comal St, San
      Antonio, Tx 78207 on official letterhead to include a signature approval by
             his/her Department Sheriff, Chief or Agency Training Officer.
                                         
       Requests must be approved by Chief Deputy R.Tafolla prior to being
             scheduled to attend any class at the BCSO Training Academy.

 Outside agency officers are those not employed by Bexar County. “In-house”
       classes are those offered and taught locally by BCSO instructors.

Fees must be paid at the Sheriff’s Training Academy, 1930 Herbert Lane, San Antonio, Texas
78227 prior to attending classes. Bank checks, money orders, or agency checks only made
    out to Bexar County Sheriffs Office. Cash and personal checks are not accepted.

   The BCSO Training Academy will not endorse or approve any training
  certificates to outside agencies without prior approval BEFORE attending
                                      class.
