q This year marks the 15th anniversary of the charity
auction. Fifteen years ago, when the Young Lawyers
Committee began working with Project Northstar’s
Homeless Children’s Tutorial Project, it decided to turn its
December happy hour into a charity benefit.The first
auction in 1990 was organized by an impressive team of
young lawyers including Rudy Baca, Peter Shields,
Brent Weingardt, Eric Malinen, Pam Cooper and
Larry Roberts. Audrey Allison and Michelle Plotkin
were the Young Lawyers Committee co-chairs at the
time. By selling drinks, raffling off products from area
businesses and using celebrity auctioneers to auction off
“unique items such as lunch with esteemed members of
the FCBA, government and industry,” the Young Lawyers
Committee raised $4,075 for Project Northstar from
that first auction.
