Response to Literature Question:

    In the short story “Eleven,” Sandra Cisneros uses an abundance of imagery
    and symbolism to show Rachel’s complex emotions. Choose one symbol
    from the story to write a response to literature paragraph. Explain how
    Cisneros uses the symbol to show Rachel’s emotions and how the symbol
    adds to the story. Remember to write what Rachel’s emotions are!

Directions:
   1. Revise your rough draft essay in your Reading Journal.
   2. Type a final draft. If you are unable to type it, please neatly hand
      write or print your paragraph neatly in blue or black ink.
   3. Your writing should be on the bottom half of a blank, white sheet of
      paper.
   4. On the top half, illustrate the symbol in the story, “Eleven.” Your
      picture must be done by hand and not be computer generated.
   5. The entire top half of the page should be colored in using colored
      pencils or crayons. There must be no white left on the page.
   6. For a title, write the following in large, bold print or type.
