In industry, environmental considerations have to be extended to the different phases of
Ecological notes for packaging materials ...................... 10-11 the whole process. The wood processing industry has started to pay increasing attention
to the operations in the early stages of the process – that is, to the acquisition of raw
material and thus the ethical purposes in forest management.
Earlier this year, Plastiroll was awarded the PEFC Chain of Custody certification related to
tracking the origin of wood. The certification ensures that the raw material we buy and
use is legal and comes from sustainably managed forests. It is an important part of our
environmental management system.
The environmental cause is also served by our newly completed film factory, which
is an excellent example of the factory of the future, where ecological products are
manufactured in an energy-efficient way. By recovering the heat genera-
ted in the production process we can heat the whole factory property.
Efficiency is sensible from the perspective of the enterprise, national
economy and the environment – it’s a win-win for everyone.
We still believe in a growing demand for ecological pack-
aging materials. We have invested in the production of bio-
degradable film and doubled our production capacity. The
new bio line takes Plastiroll to the cutting-edge of tech-
nology that is the best in Europe and to a new era in the
field in one fell swoop. This era will be one of increased
opportunities for choice and a cleaner environment.
