?The ￡500 HP Color LaserJet CP2025dn printer has been designed with small work-groups in mind and it has network capability, can print on both sides of paper automatically, and is rated at 20 pages per minute (ppm). There are two paper trays at the front of the CP2025dn. One is a 250 page drawer and the other opens above it and can be used for different purposes. The front also houses the control panel which you can use to input print jobs and other commands. USB and Ethernet leads can be connected at the rear of the HP Color LaserJet CP2025dn. Except for its relatively hefty weight (nearly 53 pounds) the CP2025dn was easy to get going. You get four small capacity cartridges with the machine. These are already in place and all you need to do to get the printer ready is take away some protective tape from each cartridge. Configuring the printer was straightforward and there were no problems with the network connection. Installing the software for the HP Color LaserJet CP2025dn was just as easy. You just follow the instructions given on the included CD. The printer will work with Windows, Mac and Linux. Drivers are provided for the first two and Linux users can get drivers from HPs website. Four cartridges are used for printing and these are housed in a tray that is accessed from the front of the printer. Based on 5% coverage the black (CC530A) cartridge will print as many as 3,500 sheets and each of the colours (CC531A, CC532A and CC533A) will print 2,800 sheets. You can save money when using the printer by using non-HP cartridges which are far less expensive. Print speeds for the HP Color LaserJet CP2025dn were more than acceptable at 20 pages per minute (ppm) for mono and colour. Prints proved to be, on the whole, excellent. Black and white prints were easy to read and well defined. Colour prints were also of a high standard and were sharp and vibrant. The quality of photos produced varied with the quality of paper. When printing photos it quickly became apparent that it was necessary to use high quality paper to get good results. If 80gm paper was used the prints were often dull and the colours inaccurate but with better quality paper the results were very satisfactory. Prints were sharp and detailed with vibrant and accurate colouring. The HP Color LaserJet CP2025dn produced good quality mono and colour prints, was quick to do so, is networkable and has a built in duplex unit. Unfortunately photo prints varied depending on the quality of paper used and it is not the cheapest printer to run but at a cost of about ￡500 it is more good than bad and is certainly worth considering.
