Short New Career Change Story

							?When John gets up every morning, he is miserable that he has to go to the office. The
thought of going to the office that he has been going to for the past 18 years puts him
off and he gets up from bed with a scowl. His best friend who lost his job with a bank
has started online marketing business and is not only earning well but is also able to
enjoy a stress free life. 'Stay at home dad' as he calls himself proudly made John think
in the same lines. What is it you wish to achieve in life Is going to an office, doing the
same mundane stuff without any thought or enthusiasm, just to keep your home fires
burning everything in life When was the last time he enjoyed working Thinking on
these lines John came to the conclusion that it is time to move on. Generally the very
thought sets his panic button pressed, but today he felt calm and assured. Once he
decided to start a new career he sat down to put his thoughts on paper.

The first thing that came to his mind was- what shall I do now This is when he
decided to identify what he is good at. Don't worry if you're feeling unsure - it's quite
natural. Also you maybe not be sure about what you want to do, but you will know for
sure what you don't want to do. Well, that's a beginning, assured his ever loving wife
Dona. That is when John decided that they could do something together. With
renewed vigor he browsed the internet to identify his passion that could well become
a new career for him. John is not alone in this. There are many people like him who
wish to have a new career but don't know how.

Gardening and pet care has been a part of John's life for a long time. He loves to be
one with Nature and also loves pets. When his pet terrier gave pups, his friends were
keen to adopt them. He sold the pups for a tidy sum and also gave them tips on how to
take care of a new born pet. Those made him seek his local administrative office for
assistance to get a license to start a pet clinic. Dona who was displaying her latest
collection of Japanese Bonsai plants on her patio was an envy of all her friends and
neighbors. She started advising her friends on how to tend to plants and slowly began
selling potted and indoor plants. The response was tremendous and so she sent out
handbills along with the daily newspaper and was amazed at the crowd trooping onto
her patio. At the end of the day both John and Dona were exhausted due to attending
to 'clients' but felt satisfied and fulfilled.

Turning passion into vocation can be fun as well as rewarding. Looking for new
careers can always help you to innovate as well as learn more about yourself. After all,
where there is a will there is a way.
