CUV20103 — Training and Assessment Strategy


Clients             This certificate is designed for Yr 11/12 students considering further studies in Visual Art, Craft or
                    Design or looking for a Visual Arts pathway.
                    The Certificate II in Visual Arts and Contemporary Craft is designed to reflect the role of individuals
                    who perform a range of mainly routine tasks and who work under direct supervision.
                    This qualification structure is designed for a Community Arts workshop Assistant or
                    trainee.
                    Duration
Training and
assessment          The expected completion time for a CUV20103 Certificate II in Visual Arts and Contemporary Craft
arrangements        is 4 semesters/353 hours. This will be achieved through 4 x 60 minute lessons per week over 2
                    years.
                    With Training Packages, assessment and training may be conducted at the workplace, off-the-job,
                    at a training organisation, during regular work, or through work experience, work placement, work
                    simulation or any combination of these.
                    For this structure of CUV20103 Certificate II in Visual Arts and Contemporary Craft, students will be
                    given the opportunity to work in a simulated Arts industry environment for a minimum of 2 weeks
                    full time (Ceramic/Drawing/ Painting/Digital Arts studio).

                    Organisation

                    The program will be delivered through class-based tasks that will simulate a visual arts studio
                    environment. Students will also work with local artists through the artist in residence program.
                    A range of teaching/learning strategies will be used to deliver the competencies. These include:

                         The school has access to staff to assist students with special needs. The school has the

                                       sponges, watercolours,

                                    o Kiln equipment, banding wheel, protective clothing,

                     List Outside Resources (agreement established):
                         Partnership agreement with Firefly Gallery. Agreement till end of 2010. It includes gallery
                     exhibition space/time, exposure and inclusion in artist in residence program showcasing local
                     artist.


Pathways             Students will develop skills that lead to other qualifications in the entertainment industry or entry
                     level employment in Visual Arts area or working at a local community arts event (e.g. markets).

                     Student Feedback is collected and analysed.
Student              Method: Students are given the opportunity to provide feedback on the coversheets of all
Feedback             assessment items. They are also given a survey at the completion of each unit of competency and
                     at the end of each year. Students also participate in the internal review procedure.
                     Data is analysed: Mid November each year ( during final exam block)
                     Trainers and Assessors provide student progress information to the SDCS operator and verify that
SDCS                 accurate and up-to-date information is recorded: Data is provided to SDCS operator on hard copy
                     each time assessment is completed. This is also stored electronically on the school network. After
                     data entry has occurred a printout is provided to the trainer/assessor for verifying accuracy.
