Signs of a positive rebound in the national, state, and local economies began to show at the end of 2010 and the beginning of 2011. Memphis is starting to benefit from the recovery and is once again experiencing new job creation. Two sectors that were particularly hard hit during this recession were the financial industry and the real estate industry. Thanks to the bailout of the financial sector, this industry has had time to stabilize and regain some level of profitability. But, problems remain with numerous banks still at risk of failure. Memphis is also enjoying renewed vigor in the transportation, distribution, and logistics sector.
