                     RES Potential

        High solar potential with mean daily sunshine from 9,8 to 14,5 hours

        Available wind potential which can be exploited (some areas with mean wind
        velocity 5-6m/s, while few areas with 7m/s)

        Biomass exploitation refers to a significant amount of agricultural residues and
        the prospects for the development of energy crops, as well as significant
        biogas potential (exploitation of agricultural residues, energy crops, waste
        disposal plants, exploitation of landfill gas from the waste disposal plants,
        burning of solid wastes, biofuels)

        The potential for small hydro plants is extremely limited

Solar Heating/Cooling Systems in Governmental Buildings (budget ~1 million Euros)

    Targets:
        Promotion of use of Renewable Sources of Energy
        Establish the viability of the solar heating/cooling systems
        Inform the potentially interested parties of this solution

      Results:
        Saving of primary energy
        Reduction of GHG´s emissions
        Constitute the basis of the development of this technology in Cyprus and in the region
        of North East Mediterranean
