1. Do not do anything that may harm you or your team!
       This includes but is not limited to: SkyZone, dirt biking, skateboarding without a helmet or any other
            activity that can cause you physical or mental harm.
           If a player is found doing something that may cause them harm, they may be dismissed from the team. When
            you hurt yourself you hurt your whole team.

2. Equipment expectations
       If you are scheduled for equipment duty, you are responsible for making sure all the equipment is stored in
            the closet properly.
           Coaches are not responsible for keeping the closet neat.
           Consequences for improperly stored equipment will result in a running for the entire team.
           RESPECT the equipment, it’s not cheap!

3. Expectations for practice
       Respect yourself, your teammates, and coaches.
       NO CELL PHONE USE FROM 3:00 (start of practice) UNTIL THE END OF PRACTICE.
            If cell phones are used during volleyball time, they will be taken and punished by Del Oro policies.

4. Game day expectations
       Attire-
         ~Players are expected to wear the pre determined attire. Failure to do so will result in lack of or reduced
         playing time.
       Duties - equipment handling
         ~ All work will be shared equally between all players in all levels of the program.
         ~ Varsity, JV & Freshman players are expected to do lines, scoreboard or any other requirements deemed
              necessary by coaches and/or refs.
         ~ JV and Freshman are expected to stay for the time designated time of the Varsity match.
         ~ All players staying to watch the other level are expected to be active fans/supporters.

5. Have fun and enjoy the sport you love to play!
       This is one of the most important expectations that is often overlooked by coaches and athletes. Hold tight
          to your love of the game and it will remind you why you choose to endure all of the sports challenges in order
          to experience its triumphs. It is my desire for you to enjoy being a part of the D.O. Boys Volleyball team. If
          you expect to have fun while working hard, we will have a successful season!


6. IF AT ANY TIME A PLAYER IS IN POSSESION OF A WEAPON, DRUGS OR ALCOHOL OF ANY KIND, WE
HAVE A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY, AND ANYONE FOUND IN POSSESSION OF ANY OF THESE ITEMS
WILL BE IMMEDIATELY CUT FROM THE TEAM, AND WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PLAY AGAIN!.

7. Making the team does not guarantee you equal playing time, nor does it guarantee you will play in every game or
match. Every effort will be made to help each athlete grow in volleyball knowledge and skill through practice and games.

8. Student athletes are considered representatives of Del Oro by their participation as a member of an
athletic team. As such, they are expected to maintain exemplary behavior and citizenship. Athletes will be held
responsible for any involvement in acts specified in the Athletic Code whether on campus, at school activities, or in the
general public. Athletes are also expected to maintain excellent citizenship. Individual behavior standards should be of
the highest quality so as to not adversely reflect on their team or school. This includes “attitude” as well as behavior in
classes, rallies, assemblies, and any athletic, school events or in the general public.

9. If there is any type of situation, the proper chain of authority is to first speak with your team captains, if that does not
resolve the problem, speak with your coach, and if there is still a need for help then speak with the head of the program.

Parents should be respectful of the coaches and the job they are doing. If there is ever a disagreement with how a coach is
performing their job, please do not bad mouth the coaches in front of your child, or another parent. Speak with the coach
without players or parents around, by following our “Chain of Command.”

As a parent of a Del Oro Boys Volleyball player I will:

           Stay in the bleachers or other observation area during the matches.
           Will not advise the coach on how to coach.
           Will respect the decisions made by the coaching staff.
           Will not make derogatory comments to coaches, officials, players of any team.
           Will not try and coach my child during the match.
           Will positively support my son.
           Will be in control of my emotions at all times.
           Help when and where I can.
           Avoid conduct that is inappropriate as determined by comparison to normally accepted behavior.
           Follow the rules of the school, such as NO FOOD OR DRINK IN THE GYM, etc.
           Discourage all forms of violence.
           Properly dispose of trash, and not leave garbage on the bleachers.
           Encourage hard work and honest effort.
           Will be responsible for my child at all times, except when he is under the supervision of a coach.


                                             Chain of command


Del Oro Boys Volleyball promotes a healthy relationship between players/parents/coaches. We believe it is important for
the players to be able to approach the coach in a positive way, and the coach will approach player in a positive way.
Before involving parents, players are encourages to address any grievances first. Parents are encouraged to support this.
Please see some examples below:

Situation:     Player or parent has a grievance about playing time or position.
  1st   Coach and player
  2nd Coach, player, parent and head coach.

Situation:     Player or parent has a grievance about any coach’s conduct or philosophy.

Situation:     Player or parent has a grievance with policy or procedure enforcement.

                     Del Oro Volleyball Participation Contract

Welcome to the Del Oro Boys Volleyball program and congratulations on being selected as a team member. Printed below
you will find helpful information as well as program policies for the upcoming season.

PURPOSE: The Del Oro volleyball program is structured to incorporate individual growth, team concepts, the pursuit of
excellence, and fun in game understanding and competition.

SEASON: The volleyball season includes try-outs, practices, scrimmages, non-league contests, tournaments, league
contests, and post-league play-offs.

C.I.F. REQUIREMENTS: During the high school volleyball season, prospective team members are restricted from
practicing or competing with any other organized volleyball team or program. Athletes who are selected to the final
playing team remain under this restriction until the season concludes. This restriction includes, but is not limited to club,
grass, recreation, and church teams or programs. The athlete’s penalty for failure to comply is immediate ineligibility and
dismissal from the team. In addition, the remaining team is required to forfeit any matches in which the athlete competed.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS: Team members are expected to attend all try-outs, practice, scrimmages, non-
league and league contests, tournaments, and play-offs. Excused absences include personal illness, family emergencies,
(accidents, deaths), special circumstances, (weddings, graduations, Court), and academic requirements and assistance.
When an excused absence prohibits you from attending practice, matches, or tournaments, please alert your coach, as
soon as possible. It is the responsibility of the PLAYER to let the coach know about absences. NOT a friend or a PARENT!
Unexcused absences include non-emergency appointments, vacations, birthdays baby-sitting, shopping, jobs, other
extracurricular activities conflicts, and the like, and are grounds for dismissal from the team.

TIME SCHEDULE: In general (once school begins) school day practices are between 3 and 9pm, non-school day practices
are between 9am and 9pm, Saturday tournaments are between 7am and 10pm, and weekday matches are between 4pm
and 10pm. There are NO practices or matches on Sundays.

CLOTHING/EQUIPMENT/UNIFORMS: Practice attire is the athlete’s responsibility (T-shirts & shorts). Each athlete
needs a pair of indoor court shoes, and knee pads are optional. Proper uniform use and care is the responsibility of the
athlete. Improper use and/or care, replacement costs will be charged to the athlete. Please wash all uniforms in cold water
with like color, please do not put them in the dryer as the numbers will come off.

MAKING THE TEAM DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOU EQUAL PLAYING TIME, NOR DOES IT GUARANTEE YOU
WILL PLAY IN EVERY GAME OR MATCH. EVERY EFFORT WILL BE MADE TO HELP EACH ATHLETE GROWS IN
VOLLEYBALL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL THROUGH PRACTICE AND GAMES.

        I have read the Del Oro Volleyball program policies above and agree to abide by such policies, I
Understand that failure to so can prohibit me from playing in competitions, receiving athletic awards, and can also result
in dismissal from the team.
