Introduction
Blow Molding is a process of inflating a hot, hollow, thermoplastic preform or parison inside a
closed mold so its shape conforms to that of the mold cavity.

In the process phase of blow molding, the molten tube is extruded at high pressure and rate
through a small die gap and tube thus formed is free hanging in the mold.

A wide variety of hollow parts, including plastic bottles, can be produced from many different
plastics using this process.

Most commodity grade and engineering grade resins may be blow molded, but the most common
one is polyethylene, which is used for food, chemical or detergent bottles for instance.Then
among of the different types of polyethylene, high density polyethylene (HDPE) is primarily
used for blow molding.

Generally, a distinction is made between small-part (≤ 5 liters) and large-part (> 5 liters) blow
molded articles. Typical small-part blow molded articles are bottles, household and industrial
containers while typical large-part blow molded articles are drums, jerrycans, tanks and others
bulk containers.

Low viscosity at high zero-shear is preferred to enhance extrusion, while high viscosity is
preferred to resist sagging in the mold. This combination can be achieved by using broader
Molecular Weight Distribution (MWD) resin of relatively high molecular weight.

Asrene UB5206H as will be described later has excellent processability,good strength (such as
good bottle drop resistance & bottle stacking) and good ESCR then suitable for large-part blow
molding application.

Asrene HDPE Blow Molding


Asrene UB5206H is HDPE Large-Part Blow Molding grade which is produced by PT Chandra
Asri (Indonesia) with FI (21.6) = 9.0 gr/min and Density = 0.953 gr/cm3.


1.   Characteristic of Asrene UB5206H
     Asrene UB5206H is produced by using UNIPOL Fluidized Bed Gas Phase Process
     Technology. By using this technology, its offer relatively high molecular weight with
     broader MWD (Molecular Weight Distribution) that gives good processability and good
     strength (good bottle drop resistance and ESCR). Asrene UB5206H uses hexene (C6) as
     copolymer and its give good physical properties.


2.   Regulation Compliance
     Asrene UB5206H complies with :
     1. FDA regulation 21 CFR 177.1520 for food contact application
     2. RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Subtances) referring to EU Directive 2002/95/EC
     REACH Status
     With respect to REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of
     Chemicals) referring to EU Directive 1907/2006/EC:
       •   The polymer like Asrene UB5206H is exempted from the provision as mentioned in
           article 2(9)
       •   We assure that level of monomer substance(s) or other substance(s) in the form of
           monomeric units is less than 2% weight by weight (w/w) so that in such as reason
           Asrene UB5206H is not obligated to register to the agency as expressed in article 6(3)

 6. Trouble Shooting
