Safe Tax Filing Self-Assessment

Filing tax returns is never very appealing, even in the best of times, and
now that April 15 is fast approaching, it can be tempting to take
 shortcuts.

But before you file, here’s a few do’s and don’ts to help keep you safe:

 AVG Safe Tax Filing Tips:

 Don’t open suspicious emails from the IRS or click on links contained
within them. The IRS doesn’t send details of tax issues such as rebates by
         email.

 Don’t ring any telephone numbers contained within these emails. There
have been a number of cases where the scam is operated by telephone.

 Do access the IRS website directly by entering the address in your
         browser: http://www.irs.gov

 Do keep your passwords secure and do not share them with anyone, not
         even with the IRS.

 Do make sure your anti-virus software is up to date and contains an anti-
         spyware component.
