TO PRODUCT: MEDICAL CONDITIONS GENERALLY AGGRAVATED BY EXPOSURE: CARCINOGEN LISTED IN:

Immediately flush the eyes with water for at least 15 minutes. Call physician. Do not transport the victim before the 15 minute flush is complete. Immediately flush the affected area with water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Call a physician. Transport the victim after the 15 minute flush is complete. Remove the victim to fresh air. Have victim lie down and remain quiet. Use artificial respiration if breathing has stopped or give oxygen if breathing is difficult. Call a physician. Do not induce vomiting. Give large quantities of water if victim is conscious. Call a physician. Long term exposure to mist or vapors may cause damage to teeth. Chronic exposure to mists containing sulfuric acid is a cancer hazard. Persons with pre-existing skin disorders or eye problems or impaired respiratory function may be more susceptible to the effects of the substance.

EFFECTS OF CHRONIC EXPOSURE

IARC: The International Agency for Research on Cancer has classified “strong inorganic acid mists containing sulfuric acid” as known human carcinogen, (IARC category 1). This classification applies only to mists containing sulfuric acid and not to sulfuric acid or sulfuric acid solutions. EMERGENCY FIRST AID PROCEDURES:

Eye Contact:

Skin Contact: Inhalation: Ingestion:

Check for and remove any contact lenses. Immediately flush eyes with copious amounts of water for 2030 minutes occasionally lifting the upper and lower lids. Call hospital or poison control center. Do not put any ointments, oils, or medication in victim’s eyes without specific instructions from a physician. IMMEDIATELY transport victim after flushing eyes to hospital, even if no symptoms develop. Immediately flood skin with copious amounts of soap and water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. If symptoms such as redness or irritation develop, IMMEDIATELY call physician. Be prepared to transport to hospital for treatment. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Remove to fresh air. If not breathing give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult give oxygen. IMMEDIATELY call a physician and be prepared to transport to hospital even if no symptoms develop. IMMEDIATELY call hospital or poison control center. DO NOT induce vomiting. Locate activated charcoal, egg whites, or milk in case medical advisor recommends using. If person is conscious, wash out mouth with water.
Chronic ingestion may result in salicylism which is characterized by nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal ulcers, and hemorrhagic strokes. Laboratory experiments have shown mutagenic effects. Target organs: Kidneys and central nervous system. Possible allergic reaction to dust if inhaled, ingested or in contact with the skin. Hypersensitivity reactions manifested by erythema, papular or vesicular eruptions occur occasionally. Allergic conjunctivitis has been reported.
