?Utah is a fairly large state, with a population of 2.5 million, the majority of which
live in or near the Salt Lake City metropolitan area, though the population of Salt
Lake City is only about 181,000. Salt Lake City has a service-oriented economy, and
has become a regional distribution center for goods crossing the area, but also has
significant mining and tourism activity. That?s something to think about for your Utah
Incorporation.
Sinclair Oil Corporation is headquartered in Salt Lake City. In addition to running
refineries and other oil facilities around the nation, it has since diversified its owning.
It owns Sun Valley resorts, which includes one of Northern Utah?s largest resorts,
Snow Basin. Snow Basin has a 3,000 feet mountain that offers basic, intermediate and
advance trails. It owns the hotels, known as Little America and Grand America in Salt
Lake City, and operates these hotels in other Western States.

Hi-tech companies in the Salt Lake City area include eBay, Unisys, Micron and 3M.
Unisys, a computer service company, has an extensive computer education program in
the Salt Lake City area. Unisys has also been involved in various programs nationally
to provide electronic voting services under the HAVA law (Help America Vote Act.)
Micron built a $1.7 million semiconductor plant in Lehi, Utah in the 1990s, which
currently employs over 5,000 people.

The state of Utah has an extensive history as a mining state. In eastern Utah petroleum
production is a major industry. Near Salt Lake City, petroleum refining is done by a
number of companies. In central Utah, coal production accounts for much of the
mining activity. One huge mine that is in operation currently is the Kennecott Utah
Copper Bingham Canyon Mine. The mine is owned by the Rio Tinto Group and the
mine also has an extensive visitor?s center. In addition to coal and petroleum fields,
Utah is the second state in copper mining. Other minerals mined in Utah include gold,
silver, zinc, lead and beryllium.

Tourism is a major industry in Southern Utah, with Utah's five national parks, Arches,
Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, and Zion and many other attractions. Utah
has been into tourism, especially the winter sports variety. It was the host to the 2002
Winter Olympics. The ski resorts in the northern Wasatch Range, the Bonneville Salt
Flats, and the Great Salt Lake, the five national parks in the south, such as Arches,
Zion and Bryce Canyon are other attractions. The convention center was built in the
1990s, and is known as the Salt Palace.

Utah?s State Parks are also worth visiting. Fremont Indian State Park
Holds encampments to participate in primitive/historic skills, play mountain man
games.
You can join a Knap-In and learn knapping skills. Learn how to chip arrowheads and
other creations. At Snow Canyon State Park, you can meet a live red-tailed hawk and
learn more about these amazing birds. At Antelope Island State Park, cyclists can com
from Utah Fairpark in Salt Lake City going 36, 67 or 100 mile loops with the later
reaching the half way point in Bridger Bay on Antelope Island State Park.
