Imagine waterfalls, cathedrals and grottos formed from glittering
spires of ice, and you’ll have some idea of what you might see
in Jasper National Park’s Maligne Canyon in Alberta, Canada,
where underground springs keep rivers and streams flowing even
as nighttime temperatures drop below 5 degrees, allowing the
spectacular formations to build up layer by layer. Don ice cleats and
take a guided trek with Jasper Adventure Centre; afterward, warm
up in the new spa at the just-opened Fairmont Jasper National Park
Lodge. Follow up a maple-butter body wrap or a fir-infused hot stone
massage with a swim in the heated indoor-outdoor pool, where you
can float in comfort between banks of heaped snow in the Canadian
    Rockies. jasperadventurecentre.com, fairmont.com/jasper
