The EACP – A Cluster Network
With their (ideally) triple helix structure, clusters have access to a
variety of competences (including regional governments).
Joining forces to overcome the fragmented nature of our cluster
landscape can help strengthen the European position in the world
markets.
Cluster managements execute important support functions for the
companies, researchers, and workers in Europe.
Networks between regions can create new opportunities for
knowledge/ best practice exchange and joint action.
Clusters need a voice in Europe!

EACP Goals & Activities
Overview
The EACP‘s overall goal is to strengthen the European position in the
world aerospace markets through clusters.
As a representative of clusters on a European level, the EACP takes
various perspectives into account:
Cluster Management Cluster Environment Focus on Industrial
Perspective Perspective Needs / Challenges
• supporting cluster • creating awareness for • helping translate
managements in their the potentials of clusters ACARE goals
service function for • addressing aerospace and (Vision 2020; Beyond

Sustainability
Funding out of own means: each partner covers their
own expenses (travel + personnel)
Regional support through EFRE/ ESF means (e.g. ESF
initiative „Skills and Innovation Hamburg“)
Goals:
Obtain funding through projects in Working Groups
Further cooperate with EU instruments, such as EEN and ESF, to
help fund specific activities
10
Effects & Outlook
Effects of EACP for its Cluster Partners:
Easier access to a larger pool of potential cooperation partners;
Trans-national cooperation projects, internationalization
opportunities;
Larger information / communication network
Outlook:
EACP Partner Meetings in the frame of Aéromart Toulouse
(December 2010) and Aerospace & Defence Meetings Bristol
(April 2011)
First FP7 Project Application in the WG „Skills & Innovation“
