TS3004 Team Project Charter (Planning)
Use this template in conjunction with the TS3004 Team Handbook, Team Setup Checklist, and Ground Rules Checklist. For Unit 7, begin filling out areas on this Charter template. Project Manager can use this template to insert information from each department manager (units 8 and 9). For unit 10, it can be expanded to become part of the IT Division Proposal.

Purpose
To experience the collaborative process of working in teams, and to explore career paths in the field of IT, in relation to the new IT department of the Zilack Corporation

Objectives
To create a plan to implement a new IT department for the Zilack Corporation.

Deliverables
Finished plan showing how a new IT department and its companent parts can be set up for the Zilack Corporation Team Charter Concept Map

Measurement
The project will be measured by how well the groups plans are accepted by the Zilack Corporation and whether they they take the decision to put the project plan into action.

Membership Responsibilities
Team Instructor: Tina Stavredes The team instructor provides the team assignment, monitors team progress and activity, and is available to provide consultation and advice on learning and project objectives:    Provide the assignment for the team and provide learning information and resources. Monitor team progress and provide feedback and advice. Assigns final team and individual grade for the project.

Team Project Coordinator: Jeff Taylor
The Team Project Coordinator plays a key role in coordinating team meetings and team activities. Specifically, he or she is responsible to:

     Clarify team purpose and objectives Manage team meetings/discussions: schedule and communicate logistics to assure appropriate planning and follow-up. Facilitate communications as appropriate. Work to frame up decisions and recommendations and act as a liaison to the instructor. Work to resolve barriers. Be proactive and keep everyone contributing and positive. Support team decisions and actions.

Team Members
Jeff Taylor: Project Manager: Manages the project and enforces deadlines as well as supports team effort to get job done. Continuously works to ensure group effectiveness and team cohesion. Chris Morgenstern: Network Manager: Design and implement a seamless network integration Steve Samson: Web Manager: In charge of designing and maintaining web sites for the company Kenny Miller: Quality Security Manager: In charge of providing security for the network and proprietary info as well as well as ensuring that the work done is of quality standard Arthur Smith: Out Sourced Jeannine Kennison: Applications Manager: In charge of updating and maintaining company applications.      Solicit input and communicate information and feedback. Actively participate in any team discussions and promptly complete team assignments. Actively work to frame up decisions and recommendations Work to ensure group effectiveness. Support decisions and actions.

Operating Logistics
 The project team will primarily communicate using course room and Microsoft Instant Messenger (voice mail can be used as back up). Members are responsible to have each week’s deliverables posted no later than Sunday of each week. Team Status Reports for Unit 8 and Unit 9 are due the Tuesday (following the Sunday deadline) and need to have the names of each team member, what he/she did, will do, and when detailed. Each team member communicates with PM in agreement to the Status Report.



Ground Rules:
  Team members are to build trust and confidence in one another by following the “Golden Rule,” treating each other how they would like to be treated. Complete assignments promptly and let the Team Project Coordinator know ASAP if there are communication or project problems. If a team member cannot meet obligations, the team must be kept informed. Active participation by all members of the team, volunteering ideas and possible solutions, and brainstorming with the rest of the team.



  

Regularly practice open communication with the general consensus that no question is a bad question and that comments are safe from ridicule. Always be honest and be open to suggestions by all team members. Important decisions will be made by team consensus -- members are responsible to suggest alternatives for a decision they cannot support.
